Organizes and evaluates patient medical records. Reviews medical records for accuracy and completeness. Responsible for filing and retrieving medical records. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of related experience. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Requires knowledge of medical office and business office procedures, grammar, spelling, basic arithmetic, and use of the office site computer systems. Operate a computer, copy machine, calculator, fax machine, and Dictaphone (if appropriate); Greet patients and answer the phone pleasantly and helpfully. Requires the ability to sort and file materials alphabetically; read understand and follow oral and written instructions; speak clearly and concisely, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, employees, and the public.
