Berkshire Hathaway GUARD is looking for a Claims Supervisor that handles complex and fast track Commercial Auto Bodily Injury claims. This position will require the ability to analyze coverage issues in addition to routine claim adjusting functions. Additionally, the position will involve administering and resolving claims in a timely manner in accordance with legal statutes, policy provisions and company guidelines, along with frequent communication with various parties including attorneys. Strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential. This position can be located in either Wilkes-Barre, PA, Parsippany, NJ, New York, NY, Rancho Cordova, PA.

- Supervises a team of AUTO LIABILITY adjusters who handle commercial auto bodily claims throughout the United States to ensure claims efficiency
- Establish goals and benchmarks for adjusting unit
- Assigns and manages the assignment of claims
- Determines and evaluates reserve and settlement requests
- Negotiates claim settlements within confines of authority
- Ensure appropriate claim reserves are established and communicated in a timely manner
- Present large claims to management team on a weekly basis
- Prepare and draft claim alerts, large loss notices and reinsurance reports
- Audit claim files of adjusting team to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements
- Implement best claims practice procedures
- Provide statistical data to executive management to ensure adherence to company's policies and procedures which utilizes staff resources effectively to meet the department's goals
- Review the settlement activity of claims staff to ensure service and efficiency
- Selects, trains, coaches and mentors the claim adjusting unit
- Monitors adjusters' performance to ensure adjusters are meeting their quality and performance objectives
- Be a technical resource for the adjusting team
- Assist in employee performance evaluation, promotion and retention
- Retain, assign and manage defense counsel to create litigation strategies
- Identify subrogation and work closely with the subrogation department
- Identify potential claims which will require the involvement of the SIU department
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure to ensure the company's profitability
- Manage and evaluate vendors regarding performance and cost
Salary Range
$60,000.00-$95,000.00 USD
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
Qualifications- Expert knowledge of commercial auto injury claims handling with 5+ years of experience
- Expert knowledge regarding commercial claim coverage issues and tender requests and demands
- Excellent written and vernal communications skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative fashion within unit and others units throughout the company
- Ability to work independently and meet assigned deadlines
- Ability to multi task in a fast paced environment
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and internet applications
- Highly attentive to details
- Able to work under pressure and execute good judgment in sensitive situations
