Job Description
We Are growing and looking to add a Civil Design Engineer to our team! The ideal candidate will be work under the supervision of a project engineer/manager to produce plans and studies for various public and private development projects. This position requires an organized individual who possesses excellent interpersonal skills along with accuracy and commitment.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
· Perform due diligence for site selection and site planning activities related to site/civil improvement and onsite wastewater treatment system projects
· Assist in site plan design for commercial and industrial projects, including site and utility layout, drainage, and grading.
· Complete hydraulic and hydrologic calculations and analysis and prepare drainage reports
· Prepare preliminary engineering studies for the development of state regulated small domestic wastewater treatment facilities
· Design and prepare construction plans and specifications for public and private development projects including residential subdivisions, commercial and industrial site/civil, roadways, sewer, water and storm drain facilities, pump stations, onsite wastewater treatment systems, and related projects
· Design grading and roadway and utility pipe alignments and profiles using AutoCAD Civil 3D
· Prepare and administer site plan and environmental related permit applications through approval, which may include attending on-site meetings and workshops at local, county, regional, state and federal levels anywhere in the western United States.
· Prepare figures, maps, and other graphics using AutoCAD and GIS software
· Prepare technical reports and memoranda
· Prepare preliminary and final cost estimates
· Provide quality control support including reviewing plans for completeness and accuracy
· Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and permitting agencies.
· Research regulatory requirements and design standards
· Provide technical and field support during construction
· Work with drafters, designers, and administrative staff to complete projects in a timely manner and within budgets
Minimum Qualifications
· 2+ years of relevant wastewater and/or land development engineering experience
· Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university (This is a must)
· Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of California and/or Nevada or ability to obtain license within one year
· Experience with permitting at the federal, state, regional, county and local levels
· Strong verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, meet deadlines, and work under minimal supervision.
· Proficient at producing construction documents using AutoCAD Civil3D
· Excellent computer skills including AutoCAD Civil3D, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
· Able to multi-task by assisting with multiple projects, each in different building phases, and ensuring all deliverables are received on schedule
· Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and good engineering practices
· Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
· Willing and able to travel as necessary for project requirements to include but not be limited to site evaluations, construction inspections, and client meetings
