The Citizen Assistance Specialist provides assistance to the public regarding allegations of regulatoryviolations in licensed, certified and or registered health facilities. This position guides case work andacts as a liaison for the public and health care facilities. This position also specializes in providingoversight of the public complaint process.
Responsibilities and duties
- Receives, answers calls and provides assistance to the public regarding allegations occurring in licensed,certified, and registered healthcare facilities.
- Investigates complaints from the public regarding healthcare facilities by gathering information aboutcertain incidents.
- Processes intakes and completes investigations for the Western Enforcement Branch.
- Coordinates and monitors activities to ensure investigations are completed as required per state and federalrequirements.
- Collects data and formulates reports for federal and state audits.
- Serves as liaison for audits of the Division of Healthcare with the Center for Medicaid and MedicarePrograms.
- Shares and/or reports data as required to appropriate agencies including the Department of Medicaid,Division of Audits and Investigations, and other CHFS programs.
- Screens investigations for acceptance and priority level assigning to field staff per established guidelines.
- Maintains accurate reports providing tracking data of assignments.
- Collects aggregate data to be used for identifying training needs statewide.
- Analyzes information provided for additional referrals to partnering agencies.
- Researches historical data for assigned investigations to be included in investigation documentation.
- Conducts quality improvement reviews/reports to ensure complaints are submitted timely by the survey staff toensure time frames are met per regulatory guidelines.
- Serves as the Complaint Coordinator for the Division of Healthcare, Southern Enforcement Branch, covering 32counties.
- Interpret Kentucky Statutes and Regulations
- Computer skills to include, but not limited to - Outlook, Excel, Word and internet-based software
