Job Summary:
Willow Creek's accredited 72-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital is the largest mental health inpatient treatment center in northern Wisconsin. We treat adult men and women, seniors, children and Adolescents.
The Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist is responsible for the medical and psychiatric aspects of admitting and treating patients with a primary caseload of adolescents between the ages of 12-17. Responsible for the initial and continued assessment of patients and for their treatment ensuring the existence of an up-to-date treatment plan appropriate to the patient's psychiatric and medical condition and psychosocial background and making sure that treatment proceeds in an effective manner in accordance with the treatment plan.
Job Duties:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) supplemented by the completion of psychiatric residency training required.
- One or more years' post graduate degree practice preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current license to practice medicine, by the state in which the facility(s) operate.
- Board certification or certificate of admissibility for board certification in a behavioral health specialty.
- Board certified or board eligible Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
- Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.
- Additional specific DEA credentials may be required, per state and facility regulations or policy.
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides clinical services to patients at the facility within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.
- Reviews medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.
- Evaluates patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
- Treats or direct treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
- Reviews and completes medical information for individual care plans, documents services, and information in a timely manner.
- Direct services and information in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.
- Performs a variety of professional assignments such as involvement in the admission of patients to the facility, covering for professional staff during vacation or, in the absence of the regularly assigned psychiatrist, appearing in court in connection with the involuntary commitment of a patient.
- Provides information, documentation, and personal insights about our patients' progress to clinicians and other treatment professionals.
- On call rotation.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complies with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement initiatives and maintains regulatory and industry standards.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Accepts responsibility for professional growth and development of self and attends all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
- Maintains professionalism and confidentiality of facility employees and patients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
