CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
ABOUT CAPC
The Child Abuse Prevention Council ofSan Joaquin County (CAPC) is a place where families can turn in a time of crisis, a place where parents can learn to be better parents, children can heal from the wounds of abuse and neglect, and where families can improve their quality of life.
Addressing the individual, relational and community needs at the heart of Child Abuse is complex, and the Child Abuse Prevention Council ofSan Joaquin County meets those challenges every day, making a difference in people's lives and giving every child the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving environment.
ABOUT THE POSITION (SEE CANDIDATE PROFILE)
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is an experienced, passionate, empathetic and visionary leader, who will build upon the strong foundation CAPC and set organizational goals and strategy to serve the needs of children and families in the San Joaquin Valley. The ideal candidate will work in collaboration with community partners and funders to eliminate Child Abuse and neglect through prevention, intervention and education.
The CEO is responsible for the current operating budget of $22M, mainly funded by government contract. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated track record of building a thriving and fiscally sound nonprofit organization and have a strong understanding of the funding landscape and service providers in the community. With a lens toward equity, diversity and inclusion, the next leader will build upon current relationships with the various constituencies in the community, have a deep understanding of the challenges facing families, and will bring a style that enhances organizational strengths, practices and processes.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Leadership & Strategy
  • Provide thoughtful and visionary executive leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the CAPC's mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Present strategic options and plans for organizational impact and gain Board approval as needed to carry out the work of the mission of the CAPC.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure its overall successful long-term operations.
  • Organize, motivate, and mentor internal team leaders to strategically grow the agency's impact, programs, fundraising, and to effectively fulfill its important mission.
  • Apply innovative thinking and performance measurements to analyze and support strategic decision-making.
  • Continually foster a culture that encourages collaboration between departments and recognizes positive contributions.
  • Manage and motivate staff, overseeing processes such as hiring, separation, ongoing staff development, performance management, and compensation and benefits.
  • Inspire a business-oriented, professional, results-driven environment across the organization.
  • Establish goals, objectives, and operational plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors, staff, and other leaders.

Board Relations & Stewardship
  • Maintain regular, ongoing, and open communication with the Board and its committees, ensuring communication of risks, issues, and successes.
  • Foster strong relationships with the entire Board, while providing leadership, support and information so they can make informed decisions.
  • Attend all Board meetings and provide reports and updates on staff as well as current work, project timelines, and organizational progress.
  • Work with the Board as needed to build consensus.
  • Implement Board policies and procedures and build support for board decisions amongst staff.

Financial Management
  • Prudently direct resources and manage all financials within budget guideline and according to current laws and regulations.
  • Assume responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the CAPC.
  • Monitor board-approved budget and manage daily financial operations to ensure maximum utilization of resource and optimum financial positioning for the CAPC.
  • Ensure maximum resource utilization, budget management, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Ensure the CAPC's financial stability and sustainability by maintaining health cash flow and adequate reserves
  • Identify and acquire funding from various sources to maintain fiscal stability and growth.

Fund Development & Communications
  • Drive development and fundraising in collaboration with the Development Director, leveraging the Board as needed.
  • Initiate, cultivate, and extend relationships with the CAPC's portfolio of individual, foundation, and corporate supporters.
  • Represent the CAPC and serve as chief spokesperson publicly at events, conferences, and partnership meetings
  • Oversee and write grants as necessary for the fiscal stability of CAPC.
  • Oversee all aspects of the organization's marketing and public relations.

Program Management
  • Develop and maintain programs that are fiscally sound and meet the organization's goals to build strong families and reduce the incidences of Child Abuse through education, prevention, and intervention.
  • Look for collaborations with other agencies that may help the organization financially or improve our services to the community.
  • Ensure that programs are meeting all necessary requirements by the funding sources.
  • Initiate necessary improvements to provide more effective services to the public.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in progressively responsible roles within a nonprofit agency.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A business mindset with a proven track record managing a strategic planning process, resulting in improved efficiency, program effectiveness, and sustainability of organizational budget.
  • Familiarity in the field of trauma informed care and Child Abuse.
  • Knowledge and experience working with children and family services, strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with Head Start and/or Department of Mental Health or similar agency strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated fundraising success with individual donors, foundations and corporate partnerships.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional growth and development of staff and Board members.
  • Demonstrated success forming strong community partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead operations and collaborate with staff, work with diverse groups of people and a wide range of faiths, beliefs, ages, cultures, and experiences.
  • The ability to present and promote CAPC- SJC and its mission, programs, partners, and members in a consistently positive manner.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary Range is $180,000 - $205,000. The position is an in-office position in Stockton, CA, Benefits include: No cost medical benefits for employee, a generous paid time off (PTO) package, Paid holidays and sick pay, vision and dental insurance options, a Retirement Saving Plan (403B) with agency matching after 1 year (up to 3%) and an employee assistance program (EAP).
