Summary
The Chief of Nursing for GEO Care is a nurse that provides leadership and assumes continuing and substantial responsibility for the coordination and evaluation of integrated programs that cross service and/or disciplines lines and influence organizational mission, vision, values and strategic priorities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- The Chief of Nursing assists with review of Corporate Health Services policies and procedures.
- Assists with review of facility local operating procedures.
- The Chief of Nursing assists with hiring and training of facility Directors of Nursing.
- Participates in development, implementation and monitoring of Infection Control Programs.
- The Chief of Nursing participates in development, implementation and monitoring of Performance Improvement Programs.
- Develops and implements Nursing Competencies.
- The Chief of Nursing develops and implements Nursing Assessment Protocols.
- Participates in Clinical Pharmacy Program reviews and updates.
- The Chief of Nursing provides input to Corporate and facility budgets and Profit and Loss statements (P&L’s).
- Develops and provides Clinician and nursing training.
- The Chief of Nursing assists in the review and monitoring OF NURSING services completed within the company and client required Electronic Health Records.
- Occasional travel is required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate’s degree from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited school OF NURSING required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the US or in the District of Columbia. Maintains a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
- Five (5) years of mid to high level leadership/management experience preferred. Management experience should be within the last seven to eight (7-8) years; a strong background of progressive clinical knowledge is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex nursing section with diverse programs.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
- Correctional experience preferred.
