Job Description
Join our dynamic healthcare leadership team as the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at our esteemed hospital. As a pivotal member of our senior management team, the CNO will play a key role in shaping and executing decisions vital to fulfilling the hospital's mission. The incumbent will also stay attuned to evolving clinical trends in healthcare that may impact the hospital's success. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CNO will provide oversight to multiple hospital departments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership to nursing staff, fostering their support and ownership of goals, and actively involving them in decisions impacting the hospital.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory approvals, quality accreditations, and necessary standards.
- Collaborate with physicians affiliated with or joining the hospital.
- Assist in strategizing and implementing new services to diversify revenue streams.
- Cultivate an environment conducive to recruiting and retaining clinical employees.
- Manage costs by identifying opportunities to eliminate non-value costs through data analysis.
- Establish and uphold standards for nursing practices, maintaining authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing services.
- Develop organizational patient care programs, policies, and procedures, outlining the assessment, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Manage the nursing services budget and ensure an adequate number of qualified staff to address patient needs.
- Plan and implement nursing care interventions, preventing complications and promoting patient comfort, improvement, and wellness.
- Analyze and participate in organization-wide performance improvement activities.
- Represent nursing services in various meetings, including those with medical staff and the hospital board of directors, collaborating with leaders to design and provide patient care and services.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Master's degree required.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure within the state.
Experience/Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of hospital nursing operations.
- 5+ years of proven leadership in an acute-care hospital environment (For-profit experience preferred).
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and families.
- Discretion in handling confidential information related to personal, financial, or medical matters.
