We are seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as Chief Information Officer (CIO) who will provide global vision, leadership, and oversight for ASME’s Information Technology (IT) strategy. The CIO will be responsible for developing the roadmap and implementation plan to help the organization leverage new and existing technologies to enhance its competitive advantage and improve stakeholder value delivery. They will be accountable for designing and optimizing an IT organizational structure that aligns with business needs.

The CIO will construct and execute the strategic vision of how technology will transform the business, educate others on data monetization, value-added services and changes required for success. They will collaborate to ensure a sound portfolio and project management focus across the organization. In addition, they will establish, communicate, and ensure adherence to enterprise technology and digital standards to ensure compatibility and integration throughout the non-profit community. With a customer-centric focus, they will balance internal and external customer needs in alignment with ASME’s Mission and overarching enterprise goals. The CIO will lead ASME’s efforts in implementing responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other emerging technologies, throughout the company along with related policies, procedures, and controls.

In leading the IT function, the CIO will be charged with building and managing the infrastructure, technologies, and data that enable digital transformation. They will facilitate the development or integration of the technologies and platforms that support digital transformation, provide interoperability throughout the product portfolio, and continually adapt IT’s processes and skill sets to ongoing changes in the technology and business landscape.

The CIO will be a driving force in ASME’s growth, taking a hands-on approach and building a robust tech team that can drive innovation and maintain operational excellence. The scope of this role will encompass an extensive network of interactions within ASME’s diverse business landscape. It requires a synergistic approach, working closely with stakeholders and other functions such as all revenue generating units, finance, legal, audit, and external partners. The CIO will play a critical role in aligning technology projects with overarching enterprise strategies and objectives.

This position requires a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the Information Technology field, inclusive of 7 years of progressive experience in senior IT leadership roles. A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field or additional equivalent experience is needed. Qualified candidates will have expertise in technology strategy development and implementation along with a comprehensive understanding of emerging technology trends, infrastructure management, software development methodologies, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and compliance. They will also have a proven track record of successfully leading technology teams fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment; identifying and evaluating emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge and evaluating/updating legacy systems, implementing modern, efficient solutions. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in a wide variety of skills in needed, including:

Technical Skills

  • Salesforce, Software Development Life Cycle(SDLC) including SaaS, B2B and B2C, experience in a Full-Stack framework with an Agile Scrum methodology, and an Azure or AWS cloud environment, APIs and Integration.
  • Website development, testing applications, Office365, and other standard business applications.
  • Experience with most of the following: artificial intelligence, digital marketing/automation systems, social media marketing, CRM and lead management technology, machine learning, natural language processing, and/or big data/BI solutions that power outcomes.
  • Technical infrastructure, networks, databases and systems in relation to IT Security and Risk.

Business and Financial Acumen

  • Successfully leading a performance-and-outcomes-based organization including setting and achieving strategic goals.
  • Managing capital and budgets that are interdependent upon other business units.
  • Business insights, strong analytical skills, and data-driven decision-making acuity.

Communication & Influencing Skills

  • Inspirational, persuasive, and compelling communication style with outstanding relationship management and negotiating skills.
  • Must be able to communicate highly complex technical concepts in an effective manner to non-technical audiences.

Leadership

  • ASME Leaders are expected to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to ASME’s mission in an exemplary way as displayed through their character, integrity and focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience coaching, managing, and developing highly collaborative/high performance teams.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor the next generation of ASME technology and business leaders.

  • Champion change through an action-oriented approach. Must be able to think “big picture” while operating tactically.
  • Experience leading complex initiatives across multiple business units via remote workforce.
  • Ability to effectively partner with key stakeholders on project prioritization and adoption strategies.

This role is eligible for a remote work arrangement. Periodic business travel will be required, including but not limited to ASME Offices which are currently located in NYC (headquarters), NJ, DC, TX.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. The New York City metro and Washington DC salary range for this position is estimated to be between $200,000 - $300,000 per year.
