Chief Administrative Officer
The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) is a growing institution that provides insight into the evolving, human, and aesthetic nature of mathematics to a diverse audience of all ages. Its interactive exhibits and stimulating programs encourage inquiry, spark curiosity, and reveal the wonders of math.
MoMath is entering an exciting period of expansion. We seek an experienced, dynamic Chief Financial and Administrative Officer to support our growth.
Position:
Reporting directly to the Executive Director and CEO of the Museum, the Chief Administrative Officer will serve as a critical member of the Museum’s leadership team and will lead the Museum’s overall financial and administrative strategy and execution. Candidates must be creative, nimble, and capable of working collaboratively across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial analyses and plans in collaboration with other members of the senior leadership team in support of overall company goals, including strategic planning and visioning for the future.
- Oversee the financial reporting and budgeting process, review monthly results, and provide a monthly reporting package.
- Monitor progress against budget throughout the year, provide P&L analyses for a variety of programs, and prepare financial models to evaluate risk and aid in decision making.
- Prepare long-term financial forecasts.
- Review/negotiate contracts, compare vendor bids, and make recommendations.
- Draft memoranda of understanding and other agreements.
- Provide information, analyses, and reports in support of fundraising and collaborative opportunities; and approve expenditures.
- Manage day-to-day operations in the office, including supervision of the accounting and administrative staff to provide guidance, feedback, and support.
- Demonstrate strong judgment in problem solving and making recommendations.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with MoMath staff, vendors, business partners, visitors, and program participants.
- Creatively approach tasks with a positive attitude, ensuring that programs and events are executed at a high level of excellence.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Seven plus years of progressively responsible work experience, with at least three years of experience in not-for-profit organizations; experience with museums or educational institutions in New York City preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and financial modeling, proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Strong analytic and project management skills.
- Demonstrated experience organizing and executing multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to implement annual and long-term strategic development plans.
- Strong interpersonal skills, together with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and organize a team.
- Polished oral and written communication skills in grammatically correct and professional correspondence.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $149,500.00 per year
