This is a remote position
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at AAPC is responsible for overseeing the organization’s technological infrastructure, aligning IT strategy with business goals, ensuring progress and improvement, fostering innovation, and leading the positive evolution of AAPC’s technological platforms, systems, and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with AAPC's mission, goals, and objectives as a membership association, educational institution, certifying body, SaaS and data vendor, and healthcare (RCM) industry service provider.
  • Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a sizeable global IT department, ensuring efficient and effective operations. Foster a culture of innovation, high accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Technology Infrastructure: Oversee the development and maintenance of AAPC's technological infrastructure, ensuring it meets the current and future needs of the organization and its members, customers, and clients.
  • Innovation and Trends: Stay abreast of emerging trends in association management, certification and proctoring, educational delivery, healthcare technology, automation, artificial intelligence, and other related technologies. Implement innovative solutions to enhance AAPC's platforms, systems, services, and offerings.
  • Data/System Security and Compliance: Ensure the security of data and IT systems and maintain compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers. Negotiate contracts and oversee implementation of third-party solutions.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and cost efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with other departments to integrate technology and support organizational objectives. Communicate technology plans and policies across the organization.
  • Training and Development: Promote IT literacy and skills development among AAPC staff. Ensure the IT team has opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports to executive leadership on IT performance, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, challenges, and successes.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a CIO or in a senior IT leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in leading the implementation and ongoing management of ERP, AMS/MMS, CRM, LMS, CMS, HRIS, exam proctoring, event management, mobile applications, business intelligence, and related or other infrastructure software, platforms, and systems supporting AAPC.
  • Track record of strategic planning, organizational development, systems architecture, business transformations, change management, and process improvement.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid capability and proven track record of acquiring, developing, and retaining great talent globally (for in-office and/or remote work)
  • In-depth knowledge of information systems, technology trends, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance standards including HIPAA, HITECH, PCI, SOC2, and others – with a commitment to stay informed and compliant as business and industry evolves.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
