Title: VP, Chief Technology Officer – Federal

Location: Washington DC Metropolitan Area

Overview

The VP, Chief Technology Officer – Federal position at Optiv+Clearshark is a pivotal role with significant impact, focusing on acting as an advocate through strategic and industry events. In this capacity, you will play a key role in supporting strategic sales opportunities and collaborating closely with prospects and existing customers to shape engineering and product priorities. As a thought-leading technical expert, you are a well-rounded and highly respected technologist with a profound understanding of Cybersecurity and/or IT/Security adjacencies. This influential role demands dynamic communication and presentation skills suitable for diverse audiences, including both business and technology leaders. Your proficiency extends to engaging with the customer's Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and collaborating effectively with internal product and engineering teams.

  • Play a strategic role in industry leadership events to enhance our presence and influence.
  • Drive thought leadership initiatives in collaboration with marketing and field teams.
  • Gather, distill, and articulate customer needs and product requirements to cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, marketing, and sales.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Marketing and demand generation teams to raise awareness and support pipeline development through various customer touchpoints (round tables, workshops, etc.), conferences, strategic events, thought leadership blogs, webinars, and white papers.
  • Contribute to the development of reference architectures, technical materials, and best practices based on field experience, continuously elevating and enabling our internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and communicate Optiv+Clearshark's product and technology strategy.
  • Lead efforts to prioritize and launch or update products or solution offerings based on identified market needs.
  • Lead efforts on detailed research and development for technologies that Optiv+Clearshark is partnered as well as provide analysis of competing or disruptive technologies.
  • Create and maintain lab environments to assist with rapid prototyping of partner solutions for market or customer validation activities.
  • Manage vendor sponsored resources that support technical initiatives and other Optiv+Clearshark objectives.
  • Strategically add innovation partners by doing analysis on their overall technical merit and overall alignment to Optiv+Clearshark's strategy.
  • Develop and maintain ecosystem of Venture Capital, Private Equity firms, leading universities and research institutions for alignment on overall technology trends and to influence investment strategies that are beneficial to Optiv+Clearshark.

Qualifications

  • Extensive background spanning 15+ years leading complex information security programs in IT environments; experience leading security within a regulated industry, government, or industry-relevant cyber security certifications (CISSP) are highly desirable
  • Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Proficiency in engaging with and influencing senior executives in the Public Sector Community, specifically within the Federal sector.
  • Proven track record in customer-facing roles, adept at explaining both strategic and technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as an industry thought leader, engaging with customers, prospects, and participating in industry events.
  • Willingness and capability to travel extensively, exceeding 50% of the time.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy, product or solution delivery, developing enterprise approaches to ensure products are delivered in a secure manner
  • Experience leading change management activities to implement new security approaches across large, enterprise cybersecurity programs
  • Ability to autonomously make decisions of the highest complexity; demonstrated experience making risk tradeoff decisions about the security posture of IT systems
  • Strong technical background spanning all security domains, with an emphasis on a primary domain for example:
    • security operations and incident response
    • architecture and advanced security assessment techniques (penetration testing and red teaming),
    • visibility and detection engineering (blue team),
    • risk, privacy and/or controls
    • Public Cloud security.
  • Ability to understand emerging technologies and how to evolve a security program to handle them.
