Our small 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization seeks a full-time Chief Financial Officer to help us advance our mission, which is to assist children, families, and seniors through meaningful connections, family self-sufficiency and treatment programs, and affordable senior housing.

The position is located onsite in Georgetown, Indiana. Our campus offers forty-seven affordable, income-based apartments for seniors of low and very low income and ten residential apartments for families working toward self-sufficiency and preservation. Our community is tucked away in a safe and peaceful setting only minutes from downtown Louisville.

The Position

The CFO functions as a business partner, working collaboratively with the CEO, the Management Team, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors. Reporting to the President & CEO, the CFO is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s financial operations and provides accounting, budgetary, operational, and programmatic support to all programs and activities in strict compliance with all relevant standards and generally accepted accounting principles.

Hands-on management of the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, billing, purchasing, banking activities, cash management, cash receipts and deposits, e.g.:

• Reconcile all bank accounts and monitor entries in the general ledger for accuracy.
• Prepare monthly financial statements for all entities.
• Assist personnel with accounting questions or other financial issues.
• Attend all Board meetings and prepare a written report relating to financial activity.
• Oversight of the accounting system (QuickBooks Online) and financial activities.
• Facilitate the preparation of annual budgets for all entities.
• Prepare quarterly budget analysis reports to compare actual amounts to budgeted amounts.
• Assist external auditors with requests for information for the annual Meadows (HUD 202 PRAC) audit.
• Assist external accountants with the information needed to prepare annual 990 tax filings for all entities.
• Develop written processes and procedures to facilitate separation of duties for internal control purposes.
• Train personnel as needed to ensure compliance with new internal control procedures.
• Assist personnel with the preparation of IRS Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.

** Salary for this position is budgeted at $90,000 annualized. ** 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

• Must have a passion for the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
• Must demonstrate a high level of integrity, self-motivation, dependability, and detail orientation.
• Must have exceptional leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Must have expert knowledge of general business principles, accounting, financial reporting procedures, and Microsoft Office and accounting software, specifically cloud-based QuickBooks.
• Must be strategically minded.

Education and Experience:

• Undergraduate degree in accounting from an accredited college or university, with a Master’s Degree or CPA designation preferred.
• Minimum of three to five years’ senior management experience, preferably with a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
