Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) acts as company Treasurer and manages the financial matters of Howard Perry and Walston and its affiliated companies. The CFO is responsible for managing the Company’s accounting department to ensure efficiency and meet company goals and objectives.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage the financial matters of Howard Perry and Walston and its related businesses (“the Company”) in a manner that will maximize efficiency, sales production, profit, and value.
- Oversee the Company’s accounting department to ensure efficiency of operations while meeting the Company’s goals and objectives.
- Develop budgets for the Company that support its strategies and goals while maintaining fiscally responsible financial results.
- Develop competitive commission and compensation plans for the Company’s sales associates and employees.
- Oversee daily accounting operations and personnel including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, commission payments, and two staff accountants.
- Prepare and perform primary review of monthly financial reports for the Company.
- Work with other managers of the Company to develop operational and managerial reporting needed to assist the managers in making competent and well-informed decisions.
- Maintain the general ledger of the Company and its related entities.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing of the books and records of the Company.
- Maintain fixed asset module and property tax filings.
- Review bank accounts reconciliations.
- Perform analysis work.
- Maintain/develop/improve accounting policies and procedures.
- Work with the Company’s Director of Human Resources (or other similar position) to (1) provide and manage competitive and cost-effective benefit plans for the Company’s employees and sales associates, and (2) maintain or implement policies that comply with legal requirements.
- Manage all company-wide property and casualty and liability-related insurance policies (excluding the Errors and Omissions policy).
- Participate in Company management matters to the extent requested by Company management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience, Skills and Education
- Fifteen years of work experience demonstrating consistent advancement in financial management and accounting, strategic planning, budget development, legal compliance, and financial forecasting
- Five years experience managing a team
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- CPA, business or accounting degree
Physical requirements
The physical requirements of this position include sitting, standing and the ability to talk and hear. The position may also require some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time, up to 20 pounds.
Addendum re: Driving Personal Vehicle on Company Business:
Employee shall not drive, and is not authorized to drive, any personal vehicle on company business unless Employee maintains automobile liability insurance on such personal vehicle with policy limits for bodily injury or similar damages of at least $100,000.00 per individual claim and $300,000.00 per incident and limits for property damage of at least $100,000.00 per incident.
