Job description

Position Purpose

This position is accountable for establishing, planning, and administering Renown Health’s financial affairs in order to ensure short and long term fiscal viability. This position is responsible for  all Renown Health financial management activities including accounting, payroll, accounts payable, tax services, budgeting, insurance program, supply chain,  revenue cycle, payer contracting, treasury and corporate structure to ensure compliance with Renown Health policies and procedures, risk management structure, and government and legal regulations. This position must provide accurate, reliable and timely financial reports measured against stated goals and objectives, analyze performance against goals and provide excellent customer service to all contacts internal and external to Renown Health.

 

Nature and Scope

This position is responsible for the overall financial viability of the institution. The incumbent is challenged to effectively maintain a financially stable posture while facing a variety of changing government regulations which affect the utilization and reimbursement of health care services. The position must work with management staff in developing major financial plans, including capital expenditure programs, while establishing and monitoring financial plans and budgets in general.
            
This position is responsible for all budgeting and financial forecasting or feasibility studies. The incumbent directs Renown Health’s long-range financial planning efforts and serves as a liaison with all governmental and non-governmental bodies that affect Renown’s current and potential financial situation.
The position is responsible for partnering with the operational leaders to provide financial information for decision-making with a focus on cost management, revenue enhancement, and benchmarking comparisons. This position has frequent contact with all levels of management and employees providing both an advisory and ongoing training and support service in the use of the health system’s financial data. This position is the key leader in implementing a customer-service focused department to ensure that the customer’s financial needs are met. In addition, the position ensures that the financial staff understands the operational scope of service provided by each department and primary business relationships.
The incumbent has contact with employees at all levels within the organization, as well as, representatives of government and industry throughout the region.
This position is responsible for the accounting, reporting, and controlling functions of Renown Health and its subsidiaries. This position is responsible for the accuracy of financial information and reports for all facilities and the annual financial audit performed by external auditors. This position presents the financial information on a monthly basis to Senior Management and Board of Directors.
This position is responsible for working with the risk management function and General Counsel to design and execute the Renown Health insurance program.
This position is responsible for the timely and accurate filing of all tax returns required to be filed by Renown Health companies and is required to keep current on both non-profit and for-profit tax issues that impact the organization.
This position is responsible for the treasury function, day-to-day cash management of the organization, the monitoring of compliance with debt covenants, and the issuance/tracking of tax exempt bonds. The incumbent deals directly with bankers, investment consultants, and rating agencies regarding financing activities.
 
This position is involved in negotiating transactions and performs various financial and legal analysis related to joint ventures, purchases and/or sales of entities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Requires Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Applicants with an MBA or CPA will be given preference.

Experience:

Requires ten (10) years’ of progressive leadership experience in healthcare financial 

License(s):

N/A

Certification(s):

CPA preferred

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
