Chief Financial Officer Job Duties:
- Supervises and manages all aspects of Foundation’s financial, accounting and reporting systems
- Develops and implements the financial and accounting procedures based on generally accepted accounting principles
- Develops and manages systems/processes for effective internal controls
- Assesses Foundation from a strategic perspective and collaborates with senior management team to address matters related to growth, technology, efficiency, scalability, compliance and financial risk
- Monitors and manages cash flow requirements so as to ensure cash availability and to maximize the return on investment
- Oversees and participates in the preparation and adherence to the annual spending policy and operating budget
- Oversees and participates in the annual financial audit and preparation of all tax filings
- Anticipates and prepares timely financial analyses to guide management, committees, and the boards of directors and its subsidiaries in decision-making and to advise them of any financial matters needing their attention
- Serves as a liaison between the Foundation and its outsourced chief investment officer
- Performs due diligence on new outside investment advisors, and performs periodic performance analysis
- Meets with agencies, donors and prospects as requested to review financial aspects of their relationship with the Foundation
- Provides technical assistance to non-profit organizations and peer foundations from time to time
- Directly supervises Controller and Director of IT
- In collaboration with Vice President – Philanthropy, ensures the Foundation’s platform is positioned to attract new contributions and growing donor partnerships.
- Serves as a member of the Foundation’s senior management team, which may include supporting and contributing to foundation-wide efforts; identifying and resolving key strategic issues or major changes; redesigning management processes; creating or modifying organizational structures; and identifying standards of performance, etc.

Chief Financial Officer Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; Master’s degree in business or finance preferred
- Certified Public Accountant required
- 8+ years of proven experience in accounting in finance
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Ability to partner with an executive team, and have a high level of written and oral communication skills
