This position is responsible for reporting to and partnering with the President & CEO. The CFO will set Cincinnati Works’ financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategy. This position will manage effective and streamlined administrative systems, including financial, accounting, facilities, and legal. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will work closely with the finance committee of the board of directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
FINANCIAL and STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
- Participate in the ongoing strategic and operational planning process as an integral member of the senior leadership team.
- Partner with the president on operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations to the president based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
- Participate in committee, staff, leadership and board meetings as needed.
- Assist CEO in preparing the annual budget and oversee the implementation of budgets, so as to monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally.
- Develop financial strategies and oversee financial performance.
- Monthly and annual review and oversight of financial reporting.
- Prepare reporting to meet the stringent compliance requirements of some private funders as well as government contracts.
- Oversee monthly reporting of all business metrics, including non-financial.
- Support functional teams with process and data analysis for problem solving and business improvement.
- Provide analysis of investment returns and investment alternatives to the Treasurer and the Finance Committee.
- Provide financial forecasting and cash flow analysis for long term planning.
- Maintain financial management policy and procedure manual.
- Oversee and perform payroll reporting and processing functions.
- With the assistance of the Administrative Services Manager, perform day-to-day accounting entries, including contribution, investment, receivables, payables, and payroll.
- Oversee all risk management functions of the organization, including the integrity, accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness of the financial team, processes and systems. Ensure that the Organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain banking relationships regarding operating funds, investment funds, and endowment funds.
- Assist Chief Human Resources Officer with benefit plan strategies and administration.
- Coordinate the audit function with external auditors in conjunction with the Finance Committee.
- Serve as a Trustee for the 401k Plan.
- Assess and maintain corporate insurance coverage.
- File all government reports and tax returns.
- Review all contractual obligations and ensure records retention.
- Vendor and contract review and negotiations oversight and participation.
FUNDRAISING
- Engage the Chief Development Officer to align resource development with short- and long-term financial planning and projections.
- Work closely with Chief Development Officer to provide fundraising reports to management and the Development Committee.
- Coordinate finance and fundraising staff to prepare grant-specific budgets and follow up reporting.
- Maintain strong working relationships with fundraising team.
FACILITIES
- Oversee facilities service agreements and staff.
- Oversee security and safety policies affecting staff.
- Oversee daily facility operations, elevators, and office equipment.
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Cincinnati Works.
- Bachelor’s degree (MA/MBA preferred) in Accounting, Business, or Management from an accredited college or university and CPA preferred.
- 15+ years demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, specifically grant/investment accounting in the nonprofit sector.
- Expertise and positions held that required significant strategic financial planning and execution.
- Proficient with various ERP systems, Quickbooks Enterprise, Blackbaud, Salesforce or related.
- Demonstrated writing, speaking, and listening skills.
