Another Source’s client, Junior Achievement of Washington, is recruiting aChief Financial Officerto join their team in Auburn, WA. This role offers a hybrid work schedule with some travel being required across Washington State to support presentations at regional board meetings.

What you will be doing: 

Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will drive transformative change at Junior Achievement of Washington (JAWA). Leading the development of robust processes and infrastructure, you'll strategically position the organization for substantial growth over the next five to ten years.  

 

Beyond traditional financial leadership, you'll manage agile administrative and financial systems, including finance, accounting, legal, facility operations, and human resources. As a key member of the senior management team, you'll shape JAWA's strategic vision, contributing to strategic planning, evaluation, and professional development. Your goal is to create a finance and operational structure anticipating the evolving needs of this forward-looking organization. This is about more than numbers; it's about sculpting a narrative of growth. From crafting budgets to driving performance assessments, ensuring compliance, and overseeing audits, you're committed to navigating the financial landscape with precision and foresight.  

 

The anticipated yearly salary range: $132,000 – $160,000 depending on experience. 

 

How you will be spending your time: 

Organizational Leadership 

  • Serving on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), developing and executing organization-wide plans, programs, and strategies that enable JAWA to advance its priorities. 
  • Mentoring and coaching direct reports, delegating work streams effectively and holding team members to a high standard of excellence. 
  • Providing management support and financial analysis for the Finance & Audit and Investment Committees of the Board.  

 

Financial Management and Oversight 

  • Overseeing day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, prepaids, credit card expense reporting, payroll processing, monthly reconciliation, and monthly and year-end close. 
  • Overseeing the timely and accurate development of budgets and financial reports to assist the CEO, Board of Directors, and other managers in making informed decisions. 
  • Leading the assessment of financial performance as it relates to the budget and long-term strategy. 
  • Overseeing the development of a rolling 12-month financial forecast; working with the CEO and leadership team to make strategic decisions about work planning and resource allocations. 
  • Reviewing and approving preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial reporting materials and metrics for the Board of Directors. 
  • Overseeing budgeting and cash flow for administration, existing programs, and proposed new sites. Manage Accounting Supervisor; hire and retain future support staff. 

 

Reporting and Contract Management 

  • Overseeing the successful completion of annual audits, IRS filings, and other mandated compliance reporting, including Junior Achievement USA national office. 
  • Maintaining productive vendor and banking relationships and liaising with related third parties. 
  • Evaluating and overseeing risk management and insurance issues. 
  • Overseeing the development and execution of contractual relationships with external parties. 

 

Operations Leadership and Management 

  • Developing and improving systems by serving as a business partner to the CEO on the organization's operational processes—including facility usage, maintenance, and improvements for current and proposed new sites. 
  • Overseeing IT administration, existing systems, and future improvements. Manage the Operations team; hire and retain future support staff. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or Finance or equivalent experience. 
  • Five to eight years of professional experience, including managing the finance and administration of a $5 million to $20 million organization, with preference given to nonprofit experience/expertise. 
  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development. 
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems. 
  • Proven effectiveness leading professionals in finance and accounting. 
  • Experience creating and driving the analytic framework for planning and managing organizational change in a highly entrepreneurial organization.
