About the Role
We are looking for an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to be a hands-on leader to oversee our finance and accounting department. As a strategic leader, the CFO will work closely with the CEO, senior leadership team and Board of Directors to drive financial performance and ongoing transformation. We are seeking a dynamic leader who can provide operation and strategic direction, identify opportunities and issues, and communicate proactively to drive solutions.
Please note: This position must be onsite five days a week to start at our downtown Bethesda, MD headquarters.
What You'll do day-to-day:
- Financial Strategy: Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with Employee Navigator's long-term goals and vision. Collaborate closely with the CEO to provide financial insights and drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Plan, implement, manage, and control financial related activities & direct all accounting practices, audits, taxes and compliance directives.
- Establish and maintain financial reporting systems consisting of controls and standards to safeguard the organization's assets and help set and track financial strategies, goals, objectives and budgets.
- Partner with other senior leaders and better integrate finance, HR, and IT functions.
- Planning and Forecasting: Lead the financial planning and forecasting processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Monitor financial performance, analyze trends, and identify areas for improvement and growth opportunities.
- Corporate Development: As part of the Executive Team, evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and investment opportunities. Conduct due diligence, negotiate deals, and provide expert financial guidance to support strategic expansion initiatives.
- Risk Management: Oversee the company's risk management framework, identifying and mitigating financial risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Financial Reporting: Present financial reports and analyses to the CEO, executive team, and board of directors. Ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with accounting principles and standards.
- Budget Management: Oversee the budgeting process and work closely with department heads to optimize spending, allocate resources effectively, and achieve financial targets.
- Funding and Investor Relations: Collaborate with the CEO in fundraising efforts, maintain positive relationships with investors, and communicate the company's financial performance and growth prospects to stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the finance and accounting team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment. Develop talent within the team and ensure continuous growth and professional development.
- Attend and collaborate in onsite, in-person meetings on a regular daily basis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree in accounting or MBA in finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
- Must be able to develop and execute business and strategic plans.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in finance with a high-growth company.
- Proven track record in driving financial strategy and planning within technology companies.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in leading and motivating teams.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance.
