Work in an exciting field and be a key part of a great family! River Valley Companies is seeking an ambitious, proven leader to be our Chief Financial Officer. The CFO has primary responsibility for planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform effective risk management and plan organization’s financial strategy.
- Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations.
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Overseeing the reconciliation of income and expense reports.
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements and profit and loss reports.
- Designing financial models that will benefit different operating initiatives.
- Identify and address potential financial risks for the company.
- Implement strategies and systems to improve financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with the law and company’s policies.
- Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance team.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the owner/president and members of the senior leadership team.
- Managing the process for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting.
- Advising on long-term business and financial planning.
- Establishing and developing relations with management and external partners and stakeholders.
- Serve as a key point of contact for financial department and auditors.
- Assist staff in financial analysis of operation.
- Direct and coordinate the preparation of annual budgets.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration, with minimum 10 years of experience in finance and managing a team is a must. An MBA or CPA is also highly desirable.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience as CFO, Finance Officer or relevant role.
- Ten or more years of experience within the finance field.
- Must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
- Ability to strategize and solve problems.
- Display cohesive ability at interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Engage staff at all levels of the organization.
- Exercise sound judgement.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong business acumen.
- Able to handle busy and diverse workload.
- Knowledge of computers, high proficiency with various financial software.
- Ability to lead and develop staff.
SCHEDULE:
Position will be housed on site at our Red Wing location. The job has a 5-day work week: Monday thru Friday 8 AM- 5PM (hours may vary; including 30 min lunch break). A modified schedule or additional time may be required in order to deliver initiatives. This position may require some travel to our Rochester and Lake Minnetonka locations. In addition, travel will be required to attend outside stakeholder meetings, conferences, and training.
