Position Overview:
This position functions as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and is responsible for all business technology aspects of the organization. Directs and manages a team responsible for overall technology architecture, product development and management, infrastructure, operations, project management/delivery, and application development. Develops and implements strategies and tactics in areas of responsibility and is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing operational activities to achieve the department goals and objectives. Directly and indirectly manages all team members within the assigned areas of responsibility and is responsible for the selection, development, motivation, recognition, evaluation and compensation of team members. As a member of the ELT, this position supports and counsels the President and Chief Executive Officer, as well as participates in the planning and execution of corporate strategies and plans.

Essential Functions:

  • Directs actions related to overall technology architecture, product development and management, infrastructure, operations, project management/delivery, and application development.
  • Provides Executive representation on the Committee responsible for strategic technology project approval, prioritization and implementation (iTAP).
  • Responsible for all strategies and operations within the department.
  • Develops organizational technology strategies by contributing technical information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Participates in the development of long-term strategic business plans and implementation strategies to achieve the organization’s objectives.
  • Actively participates in regular ELT meetings and discussions; assists peers in making sound decisions based on analysis, discussion, experience and judgment.
  • Develops a network of both external and internal relationships which enhances Compeer’s image as well as create avenues for learning and professional development. The external network includes other Association CIO’s and leaders within the Farm Credit System.

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, management information systems, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. MBA or advanced degree, strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of technology related experience.
  • Minimum of five or more years of leadership and management experience.
  • Skill in exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies.
  • Advanced skill in being decisive and making sound decisions based on analysis, discussion, experience and judgment.
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • Skill in anticipating emerging and future trends in technology and the financial services industry accurately based on broad knowledge and perspective.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), organizational, leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including the Board.
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating a vision and providing motivation and direction to team members.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Skill in working collaboratively.
  • Skill in balancing multiple priorities.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications(Word, Outlook and Excel, Outlook etc.), and related industry applications.
  • Knowledgeable in current agricultural lending practices, trends in technology and the financial services industry.
  • Skill in creating focus and eliminating roadblocks for team members.
  • Advanced skill in developing and managing a budget.
  • Valid driver’s license.
