POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial management of the organization and implementing strategies that continue to improve the financial health of CRCC. The CFO reports to and works with the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), is a member of the Executive Leadership Team, and communicates regularly with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. The CFO will be serving as a key figure in grant management for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The CFO will have a myriad of responsibilities pertaining to strategy, financial planning, analysis, accounting activities, grant management, and accounting systems management and administration.
- Work closely with Executive Leadership Team to ensure all funding is completely used in the appropriate timeframe and for the purposes stipulated in agreements
- Develop tools and systems that provide critical financial and operational information to the Board, President/CEO and other stakeholders
- Advise the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee on issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery
- Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with strategic plan
- Understand, organize, maintain, and fulfill all financial aspects of each grant, ensuring compliance with all grant/foundation expenditures and provide monthly grant status reports
- Supervise employees of Finance Department, setting goals and evaluating performance
- Approve accounts payable, execute check signing; approve work orders, maintenance requirements, and purchasing
- Oversee accounts receivable, cash, investment and asset management; preparation of month-end, quarter-end, year-end financial statements
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors
- Coordinate proper filings of tax returns
- Provide strategic recommendations to the President/CEO on IT functions, relating to financial matters and agency operations
- Oversee the procurement, use, and asset inventory of grant-related equipment, software and services to meet the agency’s evolving needs in accordance with budgets
- Maintain appropriate insurance (e.g. Directors & Officers, fraud, etc. ) coverage for agency operations
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safeguarding the agency’s assets as it relates to the oversight of cash management, cash receipts, budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial and grant reporting
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Nonprofit Management or other related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- 8 years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree), 10+ years of experience (without a Bachelor’s degree), of broad finance knowledge and skill; this would include management/leadership experience with a nonprofit organization with a minimum of 40 employees and a $2 million operating budget, including budget planning and management, financial reporting, government contracts, and the annual audit process
- Experience with Nonprofit grant management
- 5 years of supervisory experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training to meet the essential functions of the position
