Summary:
The Chief Executive Officer oversees the company's finances, functions, employees, and volunteers. CEO shall perform all duties as set forth in the Policy and Procedure manual and as directed by the Board of Directors.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports operations and administration of the Board by advising and informing Board members and interfacing between Board and staff.
- Oversees design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, and services.
- Ensures financial and accounting oversight including managing the Marland’s Place purchasing process;
- Supervising the management and accountability of all assets of Marland’s Place;
- Overseeing the distribution of all cash receipts; overseeing the distribution of all cash disbursements;
- Billing for contracted services; disseminating financial reports; managing and coordinating all investments; managing bank accounts;
- Coordinating annual external financial audits; managing all financial and salary policies and procedures;
- Submitting and documenting all payroll;
- Ensuring submission of quarterly, monthly or annual payroll and tax reports;
- Processing all worker’s compensation claims; and
- Maintaining all required OSHA records and reports.
- Responsible for the overall management of the Marland’s Place campus including coordinating maintenance with the property management company; obtaining bids for proper upkeep of campus; ensuring fleet maintenance.
- Oversees the maintenance of tenant accounts and records.
- Recommends yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manages Marland’s Place’s resources within those budget guidelines according to current law and regulations.
- Assures Marland’s Place and its mission(s), programs, and services are consistently presented as a strong, positive image to the community.
- Oversees fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements; researching funding sources; establishing strategies to approach funders; submitting fundraising records and documentation.
- Provides vision and leadership to strategic and day-to-day program implementation.
- Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments in the field of child welfare and services.
- Assures the organization has a long-range strategy which facilities the achievement of its mission(s).
- Ensures job descriptions are developed, regular performance evaluations are conducted, and sound human resource practices are in place.
- Encourages staff development and education.
- Maintains a climate which attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality people.
- Performs all other duties/responsibilities as directed by the Board of Directors.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in behavioral or social science and one (1) year of experience in children's services; or
- Master's degree in social work and 1-year experience in children's services; or
- Master's degree in behavioral or social science or related field, and two (2) years of experience in children's services; or
- Bachelor's degree with at least nine (9) credit hours in family focus, individual function and interactions, child development, sociology, social work, or a closely related subject and four (4) years of experience in children's services; or
- Experience working as an administrator or supervisor of a child placement agency.
- Dedication to compliance, ethical practices, and continuing learning & education requirements.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass pre-employment screenings.
Language/Communication/Interpersonal Skills
- Strong English language aptitude, including the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing (including the use of texting and email).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; including ability to maintain effective relationships with the Board of Directors, chamber members and staff; effectively collaborate with business leaders of the community, as well as with government representatives, civic leaders and members of the public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Must have strong understanding of business accounting and statistical analysis understanding.
Reasoning Ability:
Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to anticipate and plan for the future and realign priorities quickly when dealing with unanticipated events. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell; stand; walk; sit and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The employee may occasionally climb ladders and stairs as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employees must understand and implement all related safety policies, procedures and programs for prevention and protection while performing job duties in various work environments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as occasionally extreme temperatures.
