PRIMARY FUNCTION:
In accordance with the elements of competence established for Boys and Girls Club executives, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for overseeing strategic planning and operation of the Club, in support of organizational mission and goals. Provides leadership, direction and support to the Board of Directors in developing organizational goals, attaining/allocating resources, and establishing policies. Provides leadership and direction to staff management in carrying out the key roles assigned to them.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Leadership
- Guide, support, and serve the Board of Directors in establishing goals and developing policies, strategic plans, procedures, budgets, and programs that fulfill the mission of Boys and Girls Clubs of Adair County Schools.
- Provide leadership through the establishment of goals, objectives, and procedures; develop administrative and operational standards by which goals will be met.
- Provide inspirational leadership to empower the team to develop a culture of collaboration and cooperation to fulfill operational goals.
Strategic Planning
- Identify, recruit, and cultivate relationships with potential donors, foundations, and partners to secure and increase financial support for the organization’s budget and long-term financial stability.
- Ensure and oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities for improvement and implements plans for improvements.
Governance
- Provide professional leadership in collaboration with the Board of Directors to assure development of an effective and motivated Board, including identification, recruitment, training, and involvement of board members in fundraising and meeting the goals of the organization.
- Partnering with the Board of Directors, the CEO will proactively provide factual and timely information needed to make high-level strategic decisions.
- Assure the organization’s compliance with membership and other requirements or standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and compliance of applicable federal, state, and local laws & regulations.
Resource Development
- Seek, solicit, make application, and manage grant funding through BGCA, Oklahoma Alliance, and other potential grants.
- Ensure the annual budget is funded and the organization has adequate cash flow.
- Oversee the development of financial development strategic plans.
Resource Management
- Ensure development, implementation, and monitoring of the Club’s annual budget in collaboration with financial management staff.
- Ensure all necessary administrative and operational systems are in place to support effective operations.
- Monitor financial performance and work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure the organization's financial sustainability.
Technology
- Ensure the development and implementation of plans for updating existing technology and resources.
- Ensure the acquisition and allocation of funds for implementing and updating existing technology and resources.
- Ensure the maintenance of Club technology and information management systems.
Partnership Development
- Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials. Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, members, parents, families, funders, and community organizations.
- Join area community organizations and youth serving organization coalitions or committees.
Marketing and Public Relations
- Increase visibility of Club programs, services and activities, and maintain good public relations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be assigned special projects periodically by the Board of Directors.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain contact with Board of Directors, Club staff, volunteers, and club members.
External: Maintain contact with potential and current donors, external community groups,
parents, school officials, parents and school officials, and others as required.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- A minimum of three to five years’ experience in managing programs or operations in a non-profit agency or Boys and Girls Club, with at least two years in a leadership capacity; or an equivalent combination of experience.
- Thorough knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; the principles and practices of managing non-profit organizations; and resource development activities and sources of funding.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan, and coordinate operations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, and delegation.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences including but not limited to children, staff, Board of Directors, government, political and community offices, and agencies.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies.
- Basic knowledge of asset management, including financial resources and property.
- Maintain updated clearances as required by Boys and Girls Club of America.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics include normal office and classroom conditions and can vary from low to moderate. Limited overnight travel may occasionally be required. The employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, or driving and riding in a vehicle. The employee may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
There are deadlines associated with this position. The employee must be able to handle frequent interruptions and be able to multitask. The employee will also interact with a variety of people, and at times deal with complicated issues.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
