We are on the lookout for a seasoned Chief Engineer to lead the engineering department at an upscale, AAA 4-Diamond rated hotel in the vibrant Miami Beach area. This acclaimed independent beach resort, renowned for its luxury, wellness focus, and green operations, offers a unique opportunity for an experienced engineering professional.
About the Role:
As the Chief Engineer, you will take complete responsibility for the maintenance and appearance of the hotel, its equipment, and systems. Your role involves active management of engineering tasks, project oversight, preventive maintenance schedules, vendor contract management, and engagement in energy conservation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all mechanical equipment operations, ensuring guest and staff areas are safe and well-maintained.
- Lead the maintenance team, manage landscaping, facility upkeep, and pool maintenance.
- Handle hiring, training, and performance management for the Engineering department.
- Coordinate work requests, manage inventories, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- Work collaboratively with the General Manager on project management and staff engagement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years in building trade or hotel engineering with supervisory experience.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Proficient in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are beneficial.
- Capable of multitasking in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Work Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand for long periods, lift or push up to 80 lbs, and work in different environmental conditions.
- Flexibility to work according to business needs, including weekends and holidays.
