Chief Embedded Systems Security Engineer

Our client's primary goal is to design and implement advanced, secure system solutions that play a critical role in safeguarding military systems during future conflicts. We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Engineer who has exceptional ingenuity and expertise in both forward and reverse engineering of Embedded Systems. In this role, you will diligently dissect complex systems, conducting thorough analyses using tools such as Ghidra, IDA Pro, or Binary Ninja. Along with your hands-on engineering responsibilities, you will also lead and guide a select team of highly skilled engineers, helping them overcome technically demanding objectives. As the Principal Investigator, you will work closely with the Program Manager to drive the program team towards reaching project milestones. Your leadership position will involve assigning tasks, providing mentorship and technical coaching, and developing and maintaining the program schedule. Maintaining direct communication with the customer's technical representatives and giving progress updates during scheduled meetings is crucial. This role offers a unique combination of technical leadership, customer interaction, and hands-on involvement. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in effectively reverse and forward engineering the security aspects of various embedded devices.

• Take charge of leading a team in the reverse engineering and development of embedded software using the C programming language, either on bare metal or embedded operating systems.
• Examine existing security components of Embedded Systems and propose innovative enhancements to strengthen security.
• Utilize advanced development and debugging tools to assess and test the performance and security of embedded applications.
• Apply reverse engineering tools such as Ghidra, IDA Pro, and Binary Ninja.
• Engage in all stages of the product design lifecycle, including system architecture, design, development, and verification.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of design, progress, and outcomes, ensuring effective communication with customer technical representatives.

Requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• An Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is a must.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in embedded software development is necessary.
• Proficiency in embedded processor architectures such as ARM, Microblaze, RISC-V, PowerPC, etc., is essential.
• Expertise in programming languages such as C/C++, assembly, and scripting is required.
• Knowledge of low-level computer architecture and serial buses is required.
• Experience with FLASH programming, boot loaders, and board bring-up is mandatory.
• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences is necessary.
• Experience in reverse engineering hardware and software is desired.
• Strategic ability to analyze systems at various levels and plan technical tasks logically is required.
• Experience in government R&D programs and leading technical teams is preferred.
• Applied cryptography knowledge is a plus.
• Application of cybersecurity principles to operational technology and Embedded Systems is a plus.
• Expertise in Xilinx Vivado is required.
• Proficiency in additional programming languages like Python is preferred.
• Experience in embedded system design and operating systems is necessary.
