Chief Credit Officer

Job Description

The Chief Credit Officer is responsible for managing all aspects of monitoring the overall quality of the bank’s loan portfolio. They oversee the bank’s credit administration department, which includes development, administration, and enforcement of loan policies and procedures, development of credit infrastructure and controls, monitoring of credit quality and risk, and special assets management. The Chief Credit Officer oversees the bank’s loan review and credit analysis functions.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares, reviews, and modifies lending policies and procedures which enable the Bank to perform in a business-like manner, but not expose it to undue risk.
• Works with and advises lending staff on developing, underwriting and structuring loans.
• Supports lending staff in business development efforts.
• Develops, revises and prepares credit portfolio and risk management reports for the board and other senior management.
• Participates in the bank’s ALCO/ALM committee.
• Approves all loans above individual lender approval levels and below board approval levels.
• May personally handle a limited number of credits as needed or desired.
• Is responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of the internal credit risk grading system.
• Oversees the production of loan documentation relating to the opening, servicing and closing of all loans.
• Assumes responsibility, and is accountable for adherence to, Bank policies and procedures as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations
• Serves as a management contact with regulatory bodies on credit risk matters.
