The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $180,000 - $226,000
Job Summary
  • This position is responsible for leading the team for compliance investigations and all operations related to the company’s Ethics Helpline and compliance concerns. In this role you will collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer (AGR) in the overall design, implementation, and development of an effective compliance and ethics program for the company and, you will collaborate with stakeholders across a global company to achieve the common goal of a high-integrity organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for conducting comprehensive compliance investigations across the organization, ensuring investigations are efficient, effective and thorough.
  • Oversee and guide internal and external investigative teams, allocating resources to maintain the highest standards of integrity and fairness in the investigative process, including in gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and analyzing information.
  • Lead the management of the Ethics Helpline, ensuring that it operates as a central and effective channel for reporting and addressing ethical concerns throughout the organization.
  • Develop and implement protocols for receiving, documenting, and responding to reports made through the Ethics Helpline, ensuring a commitment to transparency and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of open communication, trust and transparency, encouraging employees at all levels to report potential violations without fear of retaliation, strengthening Avangrid’s core values.
  • Present investigation findings, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors, highlighting potential areas of risk and proposing remediation strategies to protect Avangrid’s reputation and integrity.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all investigations, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements and facilitating regulatory reporting as needed.
  • Partner closely with the Legal, as appropriate, to conduct both privileged and non-privileged compliance investigations, creating a seamless partnership and alignment.
  • Collaborate extensively with the broader Ethics & Compliance, Legal, People & Organization and Security business areas on investigation-related matters and potential disciplinary or remediation actions, driving a coordinated and cohesive approach.
  • Conduct regular assessments on potential causes of issues, developing and sharing insights and recommendations with relevant stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement in company’s Ethics and compliance program.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the investigation process, ensuring the protection of sensitive information and individuals involved.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop the team, fostering a high-performance culture, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to enhance the team’s capabilities and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in Ethics and compliance, (e.g., Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Audit/Forensic, Risk Management), including 3 years in leadership. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Previous supervisory and Investigations experience.
  • Demonstrated thought leader and expert in fraud, corruption and anti-bribery, conflict of interest, and related compliance laws, with extensive experience conducting complex, high-stakes, and global investigations.
  • Ability to assess risk, engage in early case assessment, and leverage strategies for effective case resolution.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to deliver practical guidance clearly and concisely.
  • Executive presence with the ability to engage effectively with investigation witnesses, subjects, and stakeholders, handling sensitive topics with appropriate discretion.
  • Capacity for complex problem-solving as well as balancing and understanding competing interests and motivations.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting enterprise-wide change and ability to influence beyond authority in a complex and matrixed organization.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, able to manage and prioritize a diverse and complex workload, and available to service an internal client with a global footprint that spans numerous time zones.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • JD preferred.
