Program Description:
A Summer Camp designed for students to explore the art of expression in Visual Arts through different fun and exciting themes. In classes led by expert teaching artists and supported by ChiArts camp counselors, campers will receive pre-professional training in artistic discipline and create original pieces for performance and showcase.
Camp Themes are up to each instructor, and should foster joy and exploration in VA.
Job Summary:
The Visual Arts Instructor will design and deliver creative and mixed medium art curriculum for classes to students who would be taught in two cohorts (exact amount of minutes TBD), 5 days a week. Instructors will provide engaging and nurturing art classes and prepare students to post and display this material in a physical format for distribution.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to commit to working for the entire 3 weeks of camp July 8th-26th
- Camp starts at 9:00 am-2:00 pm; exact number of minutes TBD
- Have a vision of how to effectively teach elementary children
- Required to submit curricular plan ahead of time for review
- Background check on file required
- Experience working as a teaching artist with 6-8th grade children
- Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and have outstanding communication skills
- Organization, leadership, and a dedication to working with children are essential
- Commitment to sharing and learning through the arts and the ChiArts mission
- Must attend a classroom management training session prior to the start of camp (hosted by ChiArts)
Compensation: In alignment with the starting instructional rate listed in the collective bargaining agreement for the 2023-2024 school year. Current Instructors are compensated at their hourly rate.
