Program Description:
A Summer Camp designed for students to explore the art of expression in Music through different fun and exciting themes. In classes led by expert teaching artists and supported by ChiArts camp counselors, campers will receive pre-professional training in the artistic discipline and create original pieces for performance and showcase.
Job Summary:
The VoiceInstructor will design and deliver a creative general music curriculum for daily classes to students, divided into two cohorts, 5 days a week. Instructors will provide engaging and nurturing music classes relating to the weekly camp theme and prepare students for the performance of this material at a final showcase. The instructor should focus on vocals, and can also incorporate instrumental play which can be obtained.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to commit to working for the entire 3 weeks of camp July 8th-26th
- Camp runs from 9:00 am-2:00 pm; exact class schedule for each student cohort TBD
- Required to submit curricular plan ahead of time for review
- Background check on file required
- Experience in early childhood curriculum development
- Experience working as a teaching artist with K-5 children
- Piano playing skills are a plus; accompanist is available for final performances
- Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and have outstanding communication skills
- Organization, leadership, and a dedication to working with children are essential
- Commitment to sharing and learning through the arts and the ChiArts mission
- Must attend an elementary classroom management training session prior to the start of camp (hosted by ChiArts; date TBD)
Compensation: In alignment with the starting instructional rate listed in the collective bargaining agreement for the 2023-2024 school year. Current Instructors are compensated at their hourly rate
