Job Description:
- The Industrial Hygiene Laboratory (IHL) Contract Chemist position will be responsible for the analysis of industrial hygiene (IH) samples using HPLC, UPLC, LC/MS/MS and ELISA.
- Using precise analytical skills and an understanding of chemical principles, performs analysis of industrial hygiene (IH) air and surface wipe samples using approved analytical methods.
- Must have the ability to work independently using sophisticated laboratory instrumentation and associated software applications.
- The successful candidate will maintain accurate records and comply with laboratory operation and safety SOPs.
- Working within the requirements of ISO 17025 is expected.
- The IHL Contract Chemist will demonstrate analytical proficiency initially and then on a continuing basis. The ability to prioritize workload and complete all testing in a timely manner is expected.
- Analysis of air and surface samples within our client's expected timeframes. Accurately prepare analytical standards, prepare reagents, set up instruments, and prepare IH samples within the laboratory's procedures
- Complete data entry for samples, e.g., log samples upon receipt into LIMS, record results into internal Client IH database.
- Follow internal procedures to ensure that methods are up to date
- Perform periodic checks of laboratory equipment and systems, e.g., daily refrigerator & freezer thermometer check, daily desiccator humidity check, weekly eyewash, monthly safety inspections, annual check of pipettes and syringes.
- Coordinate instrument repairs, as needed
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Master's degree will be considered with appropriate experience
- At least 1-3 years of hands-on laboratory experience with HPLC/UPLC
- Experience using Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Empower instrument management software (or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrate attributes consistent with the Client workforce of the future; adaptability, flexibility, teamwork, accountability and innovation.
- Experience in analysis of Industrial Hygiene samples and/or pharmaceutical or life sciences industry within a production-oriented laboratory
- Experience using immunoassay technology (ELISA, MARIA) and LC/MS/MS to test samples.
- Proficiency in other Microsoft applications - Access, SharePoint, Teams.
