Job Description - CHEMIST III
JOB SUMMARY: Design, produce and characterize lab samples of chemicals and products made by Willow Tex. Design and perform experiments for troubleshooting chemistry related production problems. Development and testing of new products. Run the pilot line to ensure optimal sample quality. Coordination of work assignments between R&D personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work independently on assignments through project completion, demonstrating the ability to take a project from concept to completion.
Training Willow Tex lab personnel in testing, procedures and methods for ensuring work is accurate and thorough.
Perform analytical tests on R&D, production and incoming chemicals.
Coordinate assignments of R&D personnel by assigning work orders and special tasks between all R&D staff
Provide technical assistance/expertise to Sales and Production.
Produce lab and pilot line samples for specification, testing and investigation purposes.
Safely operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
Documentation and organization of valuable research data in electronic files and lab notebooks.
Writing daily updates on current research and achievements.
Suggest, design and perform experiments for existing products and developing new products.
Utilize various instruments for product testing.
Documentation of equipment and process work instructions for the laboratory.
Compliance with company policies, governmental regulations and safe practices.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry
Experience in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Material Science or related fields.
Laboratory or research experience required.
Acute attention to detail.
Exceptional organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Strong desire and ability to operate in a team environment.
Must be mathematically inclined with ability to critically think.
Proficiency in Microsoft office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods during an 8-hour shift.
Ability to sit at a desk and view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
The frequent physical demands of the position are standing, walking, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.

- BA/BS in Chemistry with focus in polyurethane or polymers preferred
- Experience in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Material Science or related fields
- Laboratory or research experience preferred

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
