Job Title: Chemical Lab Technician
Location: 25 Middlesex Turnpike, Iselin, NJ
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Chemical Lab Technician to join our Environmental Catalysts R&D team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our research efforts by conducting various synthesis techniques, including hydrothermal synthesis of molecular sieves, and performing post-synthesis modifications. This individual will be responsible for generating characterization data on finished catalysts and providing essential support to our researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to Zero Incident Mindset and 5S concepts.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to complete complex tasks in a timely manner.
- Conduct synthesis of zeolites/molecular sieves in autoclaves following established protocols.
- Perform post-synthesis modifications of zeolites, including calcination and ion-exchange.
- Document detailed synthesis and modification procedures in the Electronic Lab Notebook and shared drives.
- Organize and label samples for potential testing and evaluation in the future.
- Utilize analytical systems to submit samples for chemical or physical analysis and compile and summarize analytical data.
- Recognize deviations from expected results and troubleshoot minor problems as needed.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to catalogue and analyze results and maintain summary files.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry/Material Science OR 2 years of college in a related scientific discipline plus 3 years of laboratory experience.
- Prior experience with chemical processes, batch reactors, or analytical test equipment.
- Strong hands-on experience and knowledge in maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment.
- Proficiency in MS Office software, particularly Excel.
- Basic chemistry knowledge including understanding of periodic table, pH, moles, acid, base, concentration, etc.
- Prior exposure to industrial safety protocols such as NFPA labeling, SDS, Hazwoper, etc. preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced research environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs over short distances.
Compensation: $30.00/hr
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8am - 4 pm or 9 am - 5 pm shift
