Position Description
Position Title: Campus Chaplain
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Retirement Center Lifestyle Coordinator
General Description
This position will serve residents, families, and staff members across the Snyder Village campus by providing spiritual guidance to those that may need a listening ear, prayers, grief counseling, general emotional support, or encouragement in the spirit of love and kindness.

Job Responsibilities, Duties and Authority
- Assess the pastoral care needs of residents and provide spiritual guidance to individual residents, groups of residents and families through visits, devotions, bible study, prayer, and other spiritual support; Coordinate care with appropriate staff members.
- Assist residents and staff members who wish to update their church or related support groups.
- Provide pastoral visits to those hospitalized, in short-term rehab, or unable to leave their home.
- Provide programs on pastoral care for older adults to Snyder Village and other community groups.
- Work with families regarding family deaths (when appropriate) and may conduct funerals and memorial services as residents and families desire; May act as a liaison between the funeral home and the community for onsite services.
- Provide pastoral counseling for Snyder Village staff members as appropriate.
Working Conditions
- Involved with staff members, residents, and families, under a variety of conditions and circumstances.
- Subject to hostile and emotionally upset staff members, residents, and families.
- May work beyond normal hours on weekends or during an emergency with staff members or residents.
- May be exposed to illness or contagious disease.
- May be subject to longer hours on feet and walking.
Minimum Training, Experience and Certification Requirements
Ordained Pastor or Chaplain training and experience is helpful. Lay ministry and CPE training would be preferred.
