Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate nursing courses in the classroom and clinical settings, acute or ambulatory, transitional care, skills lab, simulation, and/or community practicum settings. The incumbent would be expected to teach courses and clinical/practicum that would include but are not limited to acute and chronic care across the lifespan.
- Instruct courses and clinical/practicum experiences in varied locations, times, and via various media commensurate with department and University needs. May include instruction on both campuses.
- Participate in service and scholarship within the discipline, community, and University.
- Advise pre-nursing and nursing students as they prepare for and matriculate within the nursing program.
- Engage in creative achievement or scholarly research to enhance knowledge of the nursing discipline or teaching pedagogies.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
- Contribute to student growth and development, including student advising.
- Provide service to the university and community, including the program, the department, the college, the university and the greater community. Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
- Serve on department, college, university, and community committees.
- Participate in programmatic accreditation.
- Primary teaching and/or clinical assignments are dependent on expertise, experience and needs within the Department of Undergraduate Nursing.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A graduate degree in nursing from a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission on Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited program or an international equivalent. Note: For international applicants all qualifications will need to be verified by a United States accrediting body e.g., Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International, Inc.)
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse with current registration or eligible for licensure in MN and WI.
- Must meet background study requirements according to Minnesota statutes.
- A minimum of 3 years nursing experience in one or more care settings, e.g., inpatient, ambulatory, transitional care, and/or community settings.
- Ability to meet Minnesota State and clinical partner agency requirements, including Health Care Provider CPR certification and up-to-date immunizations, including influenza
- Ability to push, pull and lift 25 pounds; move up to 50 pounds of weight; use upper/lower body strength; or have a reasonable accommodation.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching is required.
- Official academic transcripts are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Skills/ability to design, integrate and enhance technology in learning, online teaching, hybrid, blended courses.
- Graduate level courses in curriculum and instruction and educational testing and measurement or Certification for Nurse Educators by the National League for Nursing.
- Experience teaching baccalaureate nursing students.
- A breadth of nursing experiences with a range of patient populations.
- Ability to collaborate with others to contribute to a culture of teamwork.
- Passionate about the field of nursing; including teaching, care of others, and professionalism.
- Flexibility to respond to a changing work environment by leading and innovating.
- Simulation experience in varied form.
- Nursing experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas: (1) Community health/population health nursing experience; (2) Experience within ambulatory/primary care/outpatient nursing care settings; (3) Pediatric/adolescent/family care in nursing experience; (4) Maternal/child/family health nursing experience; (5) Mental health in nursing experience; (6) Experience within nursing leadership; (7) Research in nursing experience.
