Job Description
The Omni Parker House is seeking an expereinced Catering Sales Manager to join their team!
The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for booking assigned markets (primarily weddings, social, and corporate catering business), while merchandising the function space as skillfully as possible to maximize revenue potential for the hotel, while ensuring that the Guest has the best possible meeting and event experience.
Location: Omni Parker House, Boston, MA (on property) - This position is eligible for Omni Hotels & Resorts WFH Incentive after 90 days of employment
Responsibilities
- Solicitation of direct-selling in the local Catering market.
- Merchandise function space and attain maximum average rate and room rental wherever appropriate
- Must be knowledgeable about all hotel capabilities, facilities and amenities, as well as local businesses and attractions.
- Deliver proposals and contracts within 24 hours of request
- Maintain aggressive weekly phone/in person solicitation
- Conduct site tours and communicate thoroughly any site tour needs to other departments.
- Provide catering services for majority of in-house conventions and maximize catering revenues through upselling techniques.
- Communication of function-arrangement to all responsible hotel departments.
- Communication with clients prior to conventions to initiate, negotiate, and close contracts for all catered functions.
- Creation of profitable menus and distribution of client expectations to Food & Beverage Departments.
- Coordinate Catering support services (flowers, entertainment, decoration, A/V, etc.) to provide complete client satisfaction.
- Physically double-check all function arrangements against specifications of client.
- Client contact and effective communication to ensure repeat bookings.
- Maintain files, and current trace dates, accurate history and all relevant booking activity.
- Participate in daily and/or weekly Catering/Convention Services meetings as assigned.

- Complete other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Catering & Convention Services or Director of Sales & Marketing.

- Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company asset
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2-3 year hotel sales/catering experience
- Knowledge of the operations of the hotel industry preferred
- Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed.
- Command of the English language both written and verbal, with the ability to demonstrate warmth and empathy when engaging with others.
- Must have strong customer service, communication, presentation, and selling/closing skills.
- Requires knowledge of advanced sales techniques.
- Highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Delphi FDC.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
