If you need reasonable accommodation in any part of the hiring process, please let us know.Position SummaryThe Dax Program provides housing and supports to approximately 30 college students experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity at two locations in North Chicago. Most students are age 18-25 and are referred directly from DePaul University and City Colleges of Chicago. Housing, basic needs and financial assistance are provided to students within a trauma-informed, holistic and participant-oriented framework.Essential Job Functions•Provides guidance and support for project residents. Develops support plans to coordinate services for residents on a regular basis (at least once per month) recording the work appropriately, advocating for students, recording notes in the database and updating the supervisor and the project team on their progress.•Assesses the needs of residents and refers them on to appropriate agencies and social service programs both at their college and in the community.•Completes referral interviews and screening with referred students; conducts intake assessment and develops housing discharge plans.•Serves as a liaison with All Chicago, DePaul University and City Colleges of Chicago and other private and public social services agencies with particular regard to housing, health and benefits issues.•Oversee social and community programming for Dax participants including developing budgets, completing grant applications and tracking participation and feedback.•Conduct outreach with local businesses, non-profits and community agencies to develop the Wellness program and volunteer opportunities for the Dax Program.•Works with the Development Department to manage social media for Dax Program.•Ensures adherence to all quality assurance policies and procedures.Tasks and Responsibilities•Assist the project team in the implementation of a new database, the preparation of reports, statistics and other papers which may be required by the President/Executive Director and senior management team.•Conduct tours of the facility for visitors and volunteers.•Build good working relationships with other projects and agencies.•Stay informed of current local and national events, trends, and issues (wherever possible), that impact Depaul USA’s work with the homeless.•Maintain all records—financial, managerial, statistical, and operational—of work necessary for the smooth running of the project.General Responsibilities•Participate in internal/external meetings as required, and attends training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary.•Participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal and helps in identifying personal job-related development and training needs.•Ensure that Depaul USA policies and procedures are upheld, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, Code of Practice, the Employee Handbook, and Confidentiality.•Contribute to the effective implementation of Depaul USA’s Equal Opportunities Policy as it affects both the organization and its work with this client group.•Undertake the role in a professional manner, always maintaining a high-quality standard of work, and to work always in accordance with the vision, mission, and values of Depaul USA.•Undertake any other duties that may be required which are commensurate with the role.Qualifications•A passion for working with young people experiencing homelessness and/or housing instability.•Associate degree in Social Work or closely related field or 3 years’ experience working with vulnerable populations•Exceptional communication, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills•Strong computer skills with all Microsoft Office programs•Excellent written and oral communication skills•Ability to organize tasks, events, and people, and delegate effectivelyWork Schedule: Downtown Chicago Executive Office, Ukrainian Village & Budlong Woods.
