Summary: Working closely with Region 3 Prevention Program Director, the ODCP Case Manager, and the Office of Drug Control policy, the ODCP Engagement Specialist will perform outreach activities with the aim of engaging individuals with needs related to substance use in order to link them to resources appropriate for their level of need and their desire to participate in services.
The ODCP Engagement Specialist will meet the members of the region where they are, facilitating linkage and referral across the continuum of care. The OCDP Engagement Specialist will work closely with the ODCP Case Manager, Regional Adult Intervention Specialist, Law Enforcement Diversion program, and Quick Response Teams to reduce the negative outcomes associated with Substance Use Disorder
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Complete all training and meeting requirements as identified in the funding grant. Some overnight travel may be necessary
- Create awareness by disseminating information to communities about target issues
- Participate in local coalition meetings to increase awareness of environmental factors impacting access to care
- Work with ODCP Case Manager to gather and communicate relevant data regarding the target issue
- Work with stakeholders to execute plans of action to address community needs
- Travel within the region to engage directly with the target population in their community
- Identify problem behavior and appropriately make referrals to services, including harm reduction programs
- Provide community support through the facilitation and/or co-facilitation of SMART Recovery and/or other appropriate support groups throughout the region
- Work directly with community partners to support implementation plans addressing prevention of overdose deaths and increasing access to treatment
- Work with ODCP staff to design, coordinate, implement, and evaluate stigma reduction activities to reduce barriers for individuals with SUD
- Work with local agencies and employers to identify and support referrals to current and potential recovery friendly work environments
- Complete grant reporting to the standards set by grantors and Westbrook Health Services
- Comply with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.
- Maintains confidentiality of all consumer information and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports Westbrook Health Services mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards and code of ethical behavior.
Qualification Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately with a variety of individuals
- Must be able to present information/trainings in a virtual and in-person setting
- Must work well in a team environment.
- Work with staff, consumers and others in a professional, cooperative, ethical, respectful and effective manner.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people
- Must be able to independently travel to community worksites and required trainings
- Must be able to set up/pack up supplies and equipment necessary to provide appropriate programming
- Ability to work a non-traditional work schedule, including some evenings and weekends
- Must be able to be approved as a driver of Westbrook vehicles
- Must have valid driver’s license and Automobile Insurance
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, prior computer/PC experience using computerized Medical Records and scheduling systems is preferred, but not required. Incumbent must also possess basic math skills. Must pass Criminal Investigation Background and DHHR background check as well as post offer drug screen.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Mobility and ability to sit for long periods of time use a standard computer keyboard, bend, reach and lifts up to 25 pounds are required in this position. Ability to drive to worksites and trainings, carry supplies from car to presentation site are required. Ability to speak in front of small and large audiences while standing anywhere from 10 min to two hours at a time.
