Job Description
The CASA Program Specialist II Position will assist CASA of Mariposa County in but not limited to: recruitment,
training, retention of volunteer advocates, and case management. This individual will work strategically across the
county to recruit volunteer advocates and will assist in training for these volunteer advocates. This individual will
also assist with the day-to-day ongoing support of the CASA program.

Duties
- Case management: The CASA PSII will provide case management to up to 60% of the current caseload
- Coordinate the 30-hour CASA volunteer training and ongoing continuing education for CASA volunteers
- Create publicity and marketing tools for the CASA program

Program Duties:
- Be knowledgeable on the National CASA standards within 30 days of hire
- Be Knowledgeable on the Judicial Council Rules of the court 5.655 within 30 days of hire
- Be knowledgeable on the National CASA brand guidelines within 30 days of hire
- Develop and distribute recruitment materials across Mariposa County · Support day-to-day office operations including reception, record keeping, and general maintenance
- Seek out and participate in ongoing training opportunities to best serve the foster family population
- Attend and participate in child abuse prevention activities and events held by CASA and other community partners
- Participate in outreach events · Provide support to the CASA Program Specialist III with program duties
- Assist with the Respite and Resource Program when necessary
Administrative Duties
- Create and maintain forms, files, and documents related to the functioning of the CASA program
- Assist in the facilitation of communication and dissemination of information between all Alliance Programs
- Assist with reports for grants
- Create publicity and marketing tools for the CASA program
- Enter and track data needed for the CASA program
- Provide support to the CASA Advocacy Program with administrative duties
Volunteer Support
- Assist with the recruitment, screening, and coordination of volunteers
- Coordinate the 30-hour CASA volunteer training
- Provide monthly continuing education to CASA volunteers
- Determine program needs and volunteer interests to find appropriate tasks and placements for volunteers with children & youth
- Coach volunteers on efforts to establish a mentoring relationship with assigned youth
- Coach volunteers on navigating the child welfare system and developing collaborative relationships with professionals involved in the case
- Assist volunteers in the development of advocacy goals for the child
- Assist volunteers in identifying services that are lacking in the child’s life
- Assist with the preparation of reports for the Juvenile Court and the development of recommendations related to placement, education, medical needs, and the emotional and behavioral well-being of the child as appropriate
- Maintain electronic case records and computerized data
- Maintain frequent contact with advocates, providing coaching and advice tailored to individual case and volunteer needs
- Communicate regularly with volunteers through check-in phone calls, e-mails, and personal appreciation for their efforts
- Communicate regularly with outside agencies such as but not limited to CWS and the Mariposa County Superior Court
- Ensure volunteer hours are documented and tracked
- Coordinate ongoing training opportunities for volunteers and staff
- Along with the CASA Program Specialist III, ensure volunteer hours are documented and tracked

- Along with the CASA Program Specialist III, provide regular performance evaluations to volunteers
- Support the CASA Advocacy Program with volunteer support duties
Education/Experience:
· High School Diploma/GED; college preferred;
Knowledge of:
· Office Equipment Operation (phone, fax, copier, etc.)
· Computers and Software Programs (Word; Excel; Internet);
· Trauma-Informed Care;
· Current social, economic and health problems and of human behavior and social functioning;
Ability to:
· Be accurate, reliable, punctual, well organized, careful and thorough;
· Communicate effectively orally, electronically and written;
· Work effectively with limited supervision and foster a team atmosphere;
· Prioritize work and exercise good judgment, schedule and manage workload;
· Demonstrate comfort and expertise in operating computers and other technology;

Physical Requirements:
· Facility to see read and distinguish printed and handwritten documents
· Facility to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone
· Facility to constantly use hands and arms to input data into computer and use adding machine
· Ability to move boxes of files from one location to another; physical agility to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, and to bend, stoop, walk and reach overhead
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time
· Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time
· Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate, neat, timely fashion: to make good judgments and decisions; and to evaluate the results of decisions and judgments
Other Requirements:
- Must complete finger printing and background check upon hire, at Alliance expense. Failure to pass fingerprint clearance or background may result in withdrawal of job appointment
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and DMV clearance
- The Alliance highly recommends vaccination against COVID-19. Staff are not required to be vaccinated but are required to show proof of vaccination upon hire should they have it.
