Job Description:

SUNY Orange is currently seeking a Capital Projects & Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to join their Facilities team. 

The Capital Projects & Environmental, Health and Safety Manager will provide necessary support for all aspects of the College's Capital Projects process as well as manage aspects of the College's Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) goals.

In relation to Capital Projects Management, this role will be expected to provide direction for various Capital Projects, implement and strategize capital project goals and timelines, create and deliver reports, analyze data and progress from project phases and lead capital project meetings.

With regards to Environmental, Health & Safety, this position will provide expertise and support to SUNY Orange in coordinating health and safety training for Facilities staff and the larger campus community, supporting the College in Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and policy development, responding to complaints pertaining to Health & safety in the workplace and on worksites, as well as, maintaining records and reports to ensure the College is in compliance with current Health & safety regulations.

The Capital Projects and Environmental, Health and Safety Manager will also be expected to oversee the Technical Assistant for Environmental, Health & Safety and Scheduling.

Travel between both the Middletown and Newburgh campuses and other sites as needed. 


Requirements:

Education & Experience Required: Bachelor's degree or higher with two (2) years of project management experience; OR an Associate's degree with four (4) years of project management experience; OR six (6) years of project management experience. At least 1 year of Environmental, Health & Safety experience and familiarity with Health & Safety inspections. Computer literate. Valid NYS Driver's License.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, laws, rules and standards regulating design and construction, including the Uniform Codes of New York State, ADA and NFPA standards. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification and NYS Code Enforcement Official (CEO) Certification.
  • Proficiency in Construction Management software including Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.
  •  OSHA 30 certification.
  •  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain positive working relationships with personnel, co-workers, all college employees, and, the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, with changing timelines.
  •  Ability to present complex information and data in a coherent fashion.
  • Must be able to travel between the college's two campuses and other sites.
  • Bilingual skills. 


Additional Information:

Position begins as soon as possible. 

Salary: $52,777-$67,025 per annum, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, 12-month, Staff & Chair, Grade 50 position.
