The Field Coordinator is responsible for participation in strategic development, planning, and integration of
Project Management deliverables including: engineering design development, construction work package
development, contract formation, contractor selection, cost estimates and schedules, materials management,
construction execution plans, progress monitoring, and change management. The field coordinator will steward
construction deliverables through each ADEM stage, enforcing compliance to Suncor policies, standards, procedures and
practices. Ensuring no work is undertaken by Contractors without proper approval and authorization. Manages field
construction interface requirements between Contractors, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, and
Operations in pursuit of achieving construction milestones. Monitors construction planning and execution
activities to ensure compliance to EH&S standards and regulations. Monitors Contractor schedule, man-hours,
costs and progress quantities in partnership with Project Controls representatives. Collaborates with commissioning
and Start-Up Team to effectively achieve Mechanical Completion, system turn over, and achieve TCCC.

Required information
5+ years' related experience or appropriate combination
of education and experience in construction
management/field supervision
Experience with tank maintenance, cleaning, inspection,
and repair
Functional knowledge of the six basic Construction
Management activities: Planning, Monitoring, Evaluating,
Advising, Approving, and Reporting
Familiar with Earned Value Management
Ability to work with team members to produce
construction deliverables in a timely manner.
Good interpersonal, analytical, organizational and
communication skills are a must
A self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision
Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS
PowerPoint)
Ensure that the construction deliverables adhere to the
construction standards and procedures as outlined by the
Commerce City Refinery (CCR) Procedures and those
established in the Suncor Asset Development & Execution
Model (ADEM) related to construction
Challenge project teams for alternatives to improve project
performance and reduce project costs
Support and participate in the development of a cohesive
Project Team and support strong relationships with other
groups such as the engineering contractor, construction
contractor, internal Suncor groups, and other stakeholders
related to the project
The field coordinator will report to the Team Lead
Construction.
Be familiar with civil, structural, piping, equipment, electrical,
I&C, and tank maintenance.
Collaborates with Maintenance planners and maintenance
personnel
Collaborates with Supply Chain to administer contracts as
appropriate
Collaborates with Supply Chain to manage materials as
appropriate
Collaborates with Project Controls to monitor,
measure, and evaluate project progress and
performance
Must be able to execute work for new construction,
sustaining projects and for turnaround type projects.
Attend and Participate in all ADEM and Risk reviews as assigned
