SUMMARY: The QA/QC Manager oversees the QA/QC team of Clinical Operations. Manages all QA/QC activities, training and competency assessments, and QA/QC system standardization across all departments in the clinical laboratories.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads, plans, organizes, and supports the daily activities and resources related to laboratory QA/QC activities. Maintains CAP/CLIA/NYS laboratory standards
- Assists with standard policies and procedures development and implementation
- Oversees and ensures proper Quality Control processes has been implemented and maintained across all labs/departments according to regulatory requirements
- Participates in test troubleshooting and modifies existing protocols in order to resolve problems related to Quality Control and Quality Assurance
- Oversees and maintains records for laboratory staff training, competency assessment
- Evaluates and optimizes resources necessary for ensuring efficient clinical laboratory operations
- Assists with the regulatory inspections and supports Quality Management System
- Assists with metrics development and maintenance. Troubleshoots metrics not meeting goals
- Hires, trains and orients new employees
- Provides regular performance feedback, mentors employees and completes annual performance reviews
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology Engineering or other related field required; MS preferred
- Experience:
- 7+ years of clinical laboratory experience with 1+ year of supervisory experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of CAP/CLIA and good laboratory practice
- Ability to create meaningful presentations
- Strong problem-solving skills and root cause analysis experience
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Preferred: MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP) or CG(ASCP)
