Position Profile
The Operations Manager, Edibles is responsible for the oversight and management of the production and compliance for the Edibles Department, from development to packaging for the Oregon Market. One of the key objectives for this role is the continuous focus on improving both the efficiency and productivity of the department, with a plan on how to exceed goals set for the team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead production and operational team for maximum output and efficiencies
Work with team to set, daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules and goals
Build and develop the strategy for efficient operations to ensure maximum capacity and no interruptions in production
Develop and implement a production roadmap to improve production flow and productivity, with an eye on automation and efficiency improvements
Manage our production staff by coordinating daily plans and setting employee rotations to meet and exceed goals and objectives set for the team
Overall responsibility for manufacturing safety, culture, quality and service, environmental compliance, and P&L responsibility for the division
Directly supervise kitchen and packaging agents responsible for operational activities; providing motivation, training, and development of production staff.
Actively participate in the prevention and correction of quality-related errors.
Develop production plans to maintain inventory par levels as determined by sales demand
Demonstrate an adequate understanding of production machinery; equipment; processing; blending; extraction; shelf-stable products, quality, and/or other requisite technical knowledge.
Responsible and accountable for quality compliance, production, and inventory control.
Remain current with industry trends, safety & requirements.
Train new and existing employees on best practices, inventory management, compliance, regulatory requirements, and safety.
Proper product & work-in-process tracking, movement, and product security
Report and maintain key performance indicators for team that are in alignment with company goals and strategies
Organize and inventory ingredients and other kitchen production supplies at the facility, in preparation for supply ordering.
Formulate calculations to verify cannabis dosages for production and understand cannabis properties that may impact final product dosage
Develop SOPs to establish procedures to be followed by production team
Maintain laboratory notebooks, SOP documents, logs, and computer databases
Ensures that all products are properly labeled, stored, and compliant at all times
Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises the edibles production team
Qualifications
3 years of work in consumer product development and general experience in commercial kitchens preferred
2+ years of professional kitchen experience - Follows best kitchen practices and GMP
3 years of experience effectively training production-level staff
Prior work with cannabis production highly preferred
Previous experience with cannabis, cannabinoids formulation, or extraction required
Strong analytical and project management skills; ability to anticipate and proactively arrive at viable solutions
Impeccable detail orientation, time management, project management, and organizational skills
Knowledge of all properties and characteristics of all forms of cannabis extractions including CO2 oil and isolate
Excellent technical skills in product formulation, planning, troubleshooting, and overall creative thinking
Superior math skills and overall mastery of complex calculations used for recipe development
Experience writing and refining SOPs
Can carry out repetitive tasks with high level of quality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with coworkers and management
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Valid OLCC Marijuana Workers Permit or ability to obtain prior to beginning work with the company
Valid Oregon Food Handler’s Card or ability to obtain prior to beginning work with the company
Proficient in Microsoft Office, and Excel.
