Campamento de la Alegría is La Casita's annual summer camp program for school-aged children. The program is created with Latinx and Immigrant youth in mind. We strive to ensure the youth in our community have access to bilingual, culturally meaningful resources, celebrations, and growth with a broad range of fun activities. We bring art, reading, science, and essentials skills to life with virtual and hands-on learning with the support of bilingual mentors and staff!
Scope of work:
Camp Counselors will be responsible for assisting in curriculum creation, providing care for attending campers, and leading camp activities throughout the summer for a total of up to two hundred and seventy-five hours (275).
Their roles will include:
- In-person support of camp, Tuesday-Thursday from June 6th-August 3rd. Team member should expect to arrive around 9 am and leave around 4 pm.
- Virtual support of camp during Virtual Tuesdays and throughout the week as needed.
- Attend regular team meetings, prep days, and camp wrap up days both virtually and in person
- Attend monthly in-person Resource Day events (2nd Tuesday of every month 8am-3pm) and Back to School Event (July 25th, hours TBD)
- Create shopping lists for materials along with the Coordinator and Team as needed
- Engage students by responding to their questions, uplifting their work, and checking in with students
- Coordinate volunteers as needed
- Other duties as assigned pertaining to the camp (may include supporting with meals, menu and grocery list coordination, coordination of volunteers, and support with virtual content)
Term: This agreement is from May 15 to August 11th, 2023
Management and supervision: Camp Counselor will report to Children and Youth Coordinator, Cassie Marshall.
Camp Counselors must comply with La Casita Health and Safety agreements including COVID-19 mitigation policies. This includes wearing an N95/KN95 mask during in person camp hours and to not work in-person if you or someone in your house has symptoms of, has been exposed to, or is positive for COVID-19. Vaccination is highly recommended. Masks and COVID-19 at home tests will be provided by La Casita
