The opportunity
Provide field calibration support for all process and facility equipment. Support team during troubleshooting, tuning and replacing different components by interpreting P&ID drawings, performing loop, systems and instruments calibrations. Support the team creating, retiring and removing instruments from the CMMS system by following proper steps. This position must adhere to all SOPs, cGMPs, and plant quality, safety, and documentation systems requirements. Other related duties essential to these operations or special assignments as required. Read and interpret detailed blueprints and schematics.
How you'll spend your day
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled facility and process equipment calibration.
• Analyze and diagnose instrument failures , understand process impact and finds a root cause to avoid failures
• Willing and able to work flexible hours to complete the work.
• Able to perform calibration and enter results into CMMS system.
• Recommends system and process changes to improve overall efficiency, reliability of equipment and control systems.
• Performs instrument Loop Tuning and Optimization.
• Partners with maintenance to ensure understanding of technical issues and corrective actions to be taken while minimizing down production time.
• Implement small equipment I instrumentation upgrades and work with necessary business units to test system modifications.
• Coordinates and oversees spare parts inventory for the l&C department.
• Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment to prevent personal and product contamination (hair and beard covers, respirators, Tyvek arm sleeves , etc.)
• Ability to troubleshoot automation controls is a plus but not essential to the position.
Your experience and qualifications
Education Required: H.S Diploma or Equivalent. ISA Control Systems Technician Certification or ASQ Calibration Technician Certification a plus.
Experience Required: At least 3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or Manufacturing related facility performing calibration of industrial equipment controls. Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications required
• Basic understanding of industrial instrumentation and measurement principles as well as process controls.
• Solid communication skills and good documentation practices.
• Ability to understand basic electrical schematics, loop diagrams and P&IDs are a plus.
• ISA Control Systems Technician Certification or ASQ Calibration Technician Certification a plus.
• Strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of general OSHA safety requirements a plus
• Must be able to read P&ID's and electrical schematics
• Must be able to use Word, Excel and Outlook
• Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and internal customers and all levels of management
• Read, write and comprehend English. Perform basic math functions.
• Able to follow cGMP's and SOP's
• Ability to use computerized equipment.
• Communicate with vendors and service providers and file are relevant reports.
