Position Overview:
Bread Alone operates 4 cafes in the Hudson Valley where we offer our guests delicious bread and pastry, a curated line of beverages including coffee program through Irving Farm, and a full menu featuring high quality products from local producers prepared in our on-site kitchen. Prep Cooks lay the foundation for proper execution of our entire menu. On any given day, the Prep Cook might be tasked with preparing mise-en-place, grab and go items, or portioning proteins. The Prep Cook is also responsible for dishwashing and maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the café at all times. They will be washing and cleaning tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment and helping to ensure that all kitchen and dish equipment is kept clean and organized.

Hours:
This is a full time 5 day a week position. The proposed schedule for this role is Tuesday-Saturday from 10AM-5:30PM. We strive to make schedules as manageable as possible to encourage and allow work/life balance.
Compensation Details:
Bread Alone is deeply committed to ethically balancing the demands of the business and paying a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. The pay for this position is $16 to $24 per hour plus tips. A breakdown of the pay range for all positions company-wide is available for all team members. Duties and Responsibilities

• Load, run, and unload the dish machine.
• Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems to a manager immediately.
• Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of clean dish storage areas.
• Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
• Maintain food safe practices in walk-ins and dry storage including FIFO, rehousing, and checking products.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of storage spaces including spot cleaning and weekly deep cleaning.
• Maintain and implement food safety practices as well as kitchen rules and policies.
• Execute daily prep list according to specifications.
• Maintain a sanitary and neat work area throughout the work day.
• Communicate consistently and effectively with coworkers to produce food as efficiently as possible and ensure as little waste as possible.
• Keep a courteous and professional attitude with coworkers

• Able to stand for long periods of time while executing tasks quickly and accurately
• Able to work in a physically demanding fast-paced environment
• Able to tolerate exposure to high levels of heat and cold
• Able to twist and bend repeatedly for long periods of time

• Able to pull, push, move and lift to waist level and carry awkward and shifting weights up to 50 pounds
• Able to work with, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner according to Bread Alone guidelines
• Able and willing to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and assigned uniform as required per company policy
• Willing to follow all safety guidelines set out by Bread Alone
• Willing to follow all applicable Good Manufacturing Practices which includes but are not limited to: Removing any visible or exposed piercings and body jewelry, personal accessories, false nails & refraining from makeup at work (ie. mascara or heavy foundation, lipstick)
• Willing to take responsibility for your own and others safety a well as follow safety rules and regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management
• The Bakery is open 365 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends
