As a member of the Performance Design Department, you will be responsible to confirm specifications and requirements using CAE. Proficient use of CAE contributes to improved optimization, speed, and efficiency of our products and development processes.
- Utilize CAE tools to execute analysis for assigned specification setting and requirement confirmation activities.
- Collaborate with test and part design engineers to optimize specifications for performance, cost, and weight.
- Create documentation for specification and confirmation results and explain to direct supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Required Work Experience:
- 0-3 years of engineering experience including co-op/internship or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Education:
- Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical Engineering
Desired skills:
- Familiarity with system / sub-system level FE modeling and analysis, using software such as ANSA and Hypermesh.
- Familiarity with static and dynamic linear analysis and post processing, using software such as Nastran, Optistruct, Meta-post and Hyperview.
- Understanding of the use 0D/1D/3D CAE software to create performance specifications and confirm performance requirements for body-in-white systems.
- Familiarity with programming language such as Matlab, Python, and Excel VBA.
- Understanding of body-in-white structure and load paths.
- Understanding of body-in-white local and global static and dynamic stiffness performance concepts.
- Familiarity with gauge-shape-size Optimization.
- Ability to breakdown complex concepts into simple summaries.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work is primarily conducted at an office desk. Some time is spent at test facilities for collaboration.
- Hybrid (office/home) work is available.
- Travel and overtime are occasionally required.
