Utilizes AutoCAD technology for Carilion Clinic. Provides technical support to AutoCAD users and other Carilion Departments as well as external contractors; assists Senior AutoCAD Specialist, Carilion Architect and Designers in the development of construction documents; and researches and troubleshoots AutoCAD issues as required.
- Sets up new project files including folders, xrefs, sheets and reformatting existing drawings and the creation of base plan drawings including site verification. Upon completion of a project, cleans up CAD files and archive appropriately
- Customizes CAD Programs using LISP, Visual Basic, CUI Editor, etc. Identifies and corrects problems with AutoCAD software.
- Provides the Design or Engineering Maintenance team with technical support and training.
- Creates and maintains a current electronic Facility Documentation Archive and retrieval system for all Carilion hospitals and real estate properties.
- Supports research of Architectural Industry Standards and supports Senior AutoCAD Specialist to incorporate them into the Carilion drawing standards library.
- Receives and archives external documentation. Performs Mapping Procedure to convert AutoCAD Format to Carilion Standards Template or External Architects Template (Project Compatible Template).
- Assists Senior AutoCAD Specialist, Carilion Architect, Design or Engineering Maintenance staff with the development of Architectural Contract Documents including production CAD support.
- Creates electronic finish boards, 2D and 3D renderings.
Education: Associate degree in Applied Science with a Major in Architectural Technology. Job is highly technical and requires continuous education and upgrade of computer skills and critical thinking in application of specialized computer software.
Experience: One to three years of Architectural Technology experience desirable. One to three years of related AutoCAD Architecture experience desirable.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required. Must have the ability to customize CAD Programs using LISP, Visual Basic and CUI Editor.
