EI&C Designer
Job Purpose: This position performs a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and controls design work to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple chemical production units and related auxiliary systems. Besides a thorough technical knowledge about electric power systems, field instrumentation, local and distributed control systems, it is also valuable to have a basic knowledge of chemical and physical processes. The main objective of this position is to provide design and technical services to operations and service units to assure safe operations, regulatory compliance and to maximize the availability and efficiency of these units.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Responsible for Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Design for Capital Projects.
2. Supporting Engineering and Construction Contractors on an as needed basis.
3. Able to coordinate with Engineering Design Team and/or Outside Engineering Resources.
4. Supporting Operations and Maintenance as a technical resource when needed.
5. Being able to understand and apply industry codes that apply to an industrial manufacturer.
6. Provides instrumentation and controls design support to all phases of project design, execution, installation, commissioning and operation.
7. Maintains and applies company instrumentation design criteria and specifications as well as industry recognized standards.
8. Troubleshoots and diagnoses instrumentation related issues including electrical, mechanical, and computer controlled systems.
9. Assists in factory acceptance testing and field inspections.
10. Responsible for creating, updating and drafting design documents including but not limited to loop sheets, motor schematics, panel schedules, I/O cabinets and onelines .
Education / Certification / Experience Requirements:
- Associate degree in Electrical, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent science degree.
- 5+ year’s of related experience in a Design Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role.
- 5+ year’s of Electrical, Instrumentation or Controls installation experience
- Advanced knowledge of technical standards and guidelines (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.)
- Will be known across the organization for their expertise, strategic vision and enterprise perspective
- Provides recommendations to management within business/functional team
