Duties:

• Computer Aided Design (CAD) Designer is responsible for creating new drawings based on sketches from engineering, picking up comments on construction drawings, supporting drawing updates with varying complexity utilizing MicroStation software.
• The individual will be responsible for Electrical, Mechanical and Civil drafting & design.
• The majority of an employee’s work will be completed in office, but some field work may be required.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Lead and/or assist with engineering support for the design, plans, specifications, reports, schedules, design estimates, and field investigation.
• Use computer assisted engineering, design, and drafting software (micro station) and equipment to prepare engineering support and design documents.
• Maintain accurate engineering records for all of CE’s Gas compression Assets to meet our stakeholder’s needs by leveraging the CE Way.
• Maintains gas compression drawing standards to ensure consistency for all drawings regardless of the organization making the revision.
• Having a working knowledge of the gas compression document control and drawing systems.
• Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard drawing procedures for projects.
• Effectively prioritizing and organizing drawing development for small to large sized projects in response to the needs of the customer. This will primarily revolve around working with engineering to determine required drawing updates and completing the drawing CAD work, for reviews and issuance for all aspects of the project.
• Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, and internal clients.
• Coordinating pre-requisites for successful completion of a project to meet customer commitments requiring ingenuity as to application of normal procedures.
• Coordinate with employees in other departments and/or external agencies to meet any special requirements of any assigned project.
• The ideal applicant should exhibit exceptional problem-solving skills, recommend alternatives, and take corrective action, while exhibiting in-depth knowledge of the policies and procedures of the business.
• Provide engineering support services with accuracy, on time and under budget.
• Provide all engineering support services in a legal and ethical manner.

Skills:

• MicroStation Proficiency
• Adobe Acrobat Pro or Bluebeam Revu
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work as an independent contributor with minimal supervision at an assigned physical work location or in a remote setting
• A valid driver’s license
• Ability to always perform the above-mentioned duties in a safe manner; driving to and from field (including remote) sites is required and the individual must be able to perform this function in all Michigan seasons

The following skills and abilities will set you apart from others:

• Experience with Natural Gas Compression facilities
• Utility or Gas engineering or construction document control
• Experience with Bentley ProjectWise, Oracle Unifier or other document control software
• Additional work experience in an associated area with applied complex
• Demonstrated proficiency in Blueprint reading

Education:

• A 2-year Associate Degree in the requisite scientific or technical field (48 scientific or technical credit hours as measured on a semester basis);
• The 48 scientific or technical credit hours can be obtained through colleges, technical institutes, licensed apprenticeship programs, trade schools, military programs, etc.
